Responsibilities

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our front-end platform team! You’ll enable Principal to accelerate delivering consistent web experiences by partnering with design, architecture, infrastructure, and engineering teams across the company to create and maintain web application patterns that adhere to both industry and Principal standards and procedures.

We work on all aspects of the Software Development Process that can include discovery, architecture, development, testing, CI/CD tooling, measurement, and monitoring.

Reporting Relationship - This role will report to Delivery Manager / Senior Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities :

- Building and improving reusable website capabilities, templates, and engineering patterns.
- Developing modern cloud-native solutions using AWS and DevOps guidelines.
- Working together with multiple departments to provide secure, accessible, and scalable web experiences.
- Driving automation, CI/CD improvements, and AI-assisted development practices.
- Contributing to platform modernization, developer experience, and self-service tooling.
- Applying accessibility, quality, and engineering standards throughout the development lifecycle.
- Monitoring,



addressing issues, and supporting platform reliability and performance.
- Participating in agile delivery, technical discussions, demos, and exchanging information.
- Supporting platform operations through a shared on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Must Have

Education: Graduate/Bachelors degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering) or equivalent experience.

Indicative Years of Experience - 2+ years of engineering experience

Skill set

Technical/Functional -

- Expertise in React, Typescript, Next.js
- Experience with AWS
- Experience working on a multi-functional team with other roles (e.g., user experience/build and product partners)
- Experience contributing to reusable web application patterns across systems
- Experience using design systems or front-end frameworks

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
- Valuable understanding of the web ecosystem (i.e., how the web works)
- Experience building and maintaining reusable web application patterns across systems
- Nx (or other equivalent build tools)
- OAuth (NextAuth)
