Designation: Shift Incharge

Job Summary:

Responsible for managing shift operations of the power plant, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of the CFBC boiler, turbine, generator and auxiliary systems. The Shift Incharge will lead the shift team, monitor plant parameters, handle operational issues and coordinate with maintenance and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise day-to-day power plant shift operations.

Monitor and control CFBC boiler operating parameters.

Ensure safe and efficient operation of Boiler, Turbine, Generator and auxiliaries.

Monitor steam pressure, temperature, drum level, furnace pressure, bed temperature and other critical parameters.

Handle start-up, shutdown and emergency operations of the plant.

Ensure continuous and stable power generation as per plant requirements.

Monitor turbine and generator parameters and coordinate with maintenance during abnormalities.

Identify operational problems and take immediate corrective action.

Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Maintenance teams.

Ensure proper coal, biomass/solid fuel and limestone feeding as applicable to CFBC operation.

Monitor ash handling, fuel feeding, ID/FD/PA fan and other auxiliary systems.

Conduct shift rounds and ensure equipment is operating within prescribed limits.

Maintain shift logbooks, operational records and generation reports.

Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety procedures and operational standards.

Lead operators and technicians during the shift and allocate duties effectively.

Conduct toolbox talks and ensure safe working practices during shift operations.

Coordinate with the Plant Head/Operations Head regarding plant performance and major abnormalities.

Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of recurring operational issues.

Ensure good housekeeping and safe working conditions in the power plant.

Knowledge:

Principles of CFBC boiler operation and combustion.





Boiler thermodynamics and steam generation.

Boiler, turbine and generator systems.

Boiler operating parameters and their significance.

Fuel feeding and combustion control.

Limestone feeding and bed material management.

ID, FD and PA fan systems.

Turbine operation and basic governing systems.

Generator and basic electrical systems.

DCS/PLC-based plant control and monitoring.

Start-up, shutdown and emergency operating procedures.

Plant efficiency and performance parameters.

SOP, PTW, LOTO and safety procedures.

Basic troubleshooting methods for power plant equipment.

Skills:

Hands-on experience in CFBC boiler operation.

Practical experience in Boiler–Turbine–Generator operations.

Ability to operate and monitor plant equipment through DCS/control room.

Practical knowledge of boiler start-up, shutdown and load management.

Ability to identify abnormal parameters and equipment conditions.

Troubleshooting skills for boiler, turbine and auxiliary systems.

Practical experience in handling plant trips and breakdowns.

Ability to coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation teams.

Shift team supervision and manpower handling skills.

Positive documentation and shift reporting skills.

Ability to follow and implement safety procedures.

Ability:

Take quick and appropriate decisions during emergency situations.

Handle boiler/turbine trips and major plant abnormalities.

Maintain stable and uninterrupted power generation.

Prioritize critical equipment and operational issues.

Identify problems and take immediate corrective action.

Lead and control the shift team effectively.

Coordinate multiple departments during breakdowns.

Remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.

Ensure the safety of manpower, equipment and plant assets.

Communicate plant conditions clearly to the Plant Head/Operations Head.

Ensure effective shift handover and continuity of operations.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
