Role Description The Senior Should-Cost Analyst is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for evaluating and estimating the optimal cost of products, components, and services of one of our customers in Denmark. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing cost structures, developing detailed Zero based bottom-up cost models, value engineering and benchmarking costs against industry standards to identify savings opportunities.

Key responsibilities :

- Development of should-cost models for Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic components
- Analysis of supplier quotations and identification of cost-reduction opportunities
- Benchmarking of materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, labor, and overhead costs




- Support for supplier negotiations through detailed cost breakdowns and fact-based insights
- Contribution to value engineering and design-to-cost initiatives
- Development of cost intelligence and market insights across key categories
- Ability to translate technical and cost data into transparent commercial recommendations
- Experience with cost-modelling tools and advanced Excel or analytical solutions

Qualifications

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop detailed cost models.
- Expertise in cost control and cost management, including identification of cost drivers and optimization opportunities.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and practices, ideally within engineering or manufacturing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in Should-cost analysis, Value engineering, Tear-down anlaysis, Design-to-Cost methodologies, Raw material analysis in a global environment is a Must!
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, cost analysis tools, and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present cost recommendations clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a collaborative environment and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
