Job summary

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Ruby Developer to lead development of our Ruby-based applications and extensions. You will join a global Agile team to design, build and maintain features that deliver value to internal and external users, ensure code quality, and collaborate with product owners, domain experts and DevOps to ship reliable solutions.

What you will do:

- Lead implementation of new features, enhancements and bug fixes across Ruby services and supporting components.

- Work in a global Agile team: participate in sprint planning, standups, refinements and retrospectives.

- Provide and receive thorough code reviews, mentoring peers, and uphold team coding standards.

- Collaborate with product owners and domain experts to clarify requirements, validate solutions and refine acceptance criteria.

- Partner with DevOps/Platform teams on CI/CD pipelines, deployments and operational runbooks.

- Drive continuous improvement of the codebase: refactoring, test coverage, performance tuning and technical debt reduction.

- Help triage production incidents, create postmortems and implement preventative measures.

What we are looking for (required)

- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including solid proficiency in Ruby.

- Experience building and operating backend services or APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).





- Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture and distributed systems fundamentals

- Solid skills with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), schema design and SQL optimization.

- Automated testing experience (RSpec, Minitest, factory tools) and a test-first mindset.

- Familiarity with caching and real-time tech (Redis or equivalent).

- Experience with CI/CD tooling (CGitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).

- Comfortable using Git and modern code-review workflows; familiarity with branching/merge strategies.

- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective written/verbal communication.

- Ability to work collaboratively across time zones with distributed teams.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with Ruby frameworks (e.g., Sinatra, Hanami, or similar)

- Proficient in an Object-oriented programming language

- Excellent mechanical and electrical application design aptitude

- Experience with material handling equipment is a plus

- 3D parametric programming OR 3D game development like Unity 3D is a plus

- Experience with a 3D design application (AutoCAD, or NX) is a plus

- Experience with, and ability to query, SQL databases is a plus

- Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies is a plus

- Experience developing front-end software designs.
