Job Title: Quality Assurance Executive
Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Reports To: QA/QC Manager / Director Operations
Location: Bawal (IMT Phase 3) / Gurgaon
Employment Type: Full-time
2.
Position
Overview The Quality Assurance Executive is responsible for ensuring that all hard goods products — across metal, wood, marble, and glass furniture and lighting categories — meet defined quality standards at every stage of production, from incoming raw material to final packed goods ready for dispatch. This role owns in-process inspection, final inspection (internal and client/third-party), defect tracking, and quality documentation, working closely with production, merchandising, and buying agents to ensure consistent, exportable quality.
3. Key Responsibilities
3.1 Incoming Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming raw materials — metal sheets/rods/tubes, timber and wood panels, marble slabs, glass sheets, hardware, fittings, and electrical components (for lighting) — against approved specifications before release to production.
- Reject or quarantine non-conforming material and coordinate with procurement for replacement or vendor feedback.
3.2 In-Process Quality Checks
- Conduct stage-wise inspection across fabrication/welding, sandblasting and surface preparation, painting/powder coating/lacquer finishing, wood cutting/joinery/polishing, marble cutting/edging/polishing, glass cutting/tempering/beveling, and assembly.
- Verify dimensional accuracy, finish quality, joint strength, and consistency against approved samples and technical specifications (tech packs).
- Identify and flag in-process defects early to minimise downstream rework and rejection.
3.3 Final Inspection & Client Compliance
- Conduct Internal Final Inspection (FI) prior to booking External/Third-Party FI, using AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) sampling standards as per client requirements (e.g. AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor, or client-specific levels).
- Coordinate with buying agents, clients, and third-party inspection agencies for scheduling and successful closure of External FI.
- Ensure products meet client-specific technical, safety, and compliance requirements, including electrical safety standards (BIS/CE/UL, as applicable) for lighting products.
- Conduct furniture-specific testing where required — load testing, stability testing, drop testing, and packaging/transit testing.
3.4 Defect Management & Root Cause Analysis
- Maintain a defect log across all product categories; classify defects (critical/major/minor) and track recurrence by process, vendor, or workstation.
- Lead root cause analysis on recurring or critical defects, and work with production to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Track rework and rejection rates by product line and report trends to management.
3.5 Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain inspection records, quality certificates, test reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for every job/PO.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly QC status reports and pending inspection trackers to management.
- Maintain calibration records for measuring instruments (vernier calipers, moisture meters, gauges, etc.) and ensure timely calibration.
3.6 Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Support periodic quality audits of raw material vendors and sub-contracted process vendors (e.g. plating, tempering, marble processing).
- Coordinate with merchandising on client approvals, sample matching, and quality escalations.
- Train and guide floor-level QC inspectors and checkers on inspection standards and checklists.
- Any other quality-related responsibilities assigned by the QA/QC Manager or Director of Operations.
4. Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related field; a certification in Quality Management (e.g. Six Sigma, ISO 9001) is preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in quality assurance/control within a hard goods manufacturing or export house — furniture, lighting, home dcor, or metal/wood/glass/marble fabrication preferred.
- Working knowledge of AQL sampling standards,
inspection checklists, and export quality compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with material-specific quality parameters across metal (welding/finish), wood (moisture content, joinery), marble (polish/edge finish), and glass (tempering/beveling).
- Experience coordinating with third-party inspection agencies and international buying agents is an advantage.
5. Skills Required
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection and documentation.
- Sound technical understanding of manufacturing processes across multiple hard goods materials.
- Good communication skills — able to coordinate across production, merchandising, vendors, and clients/buying agents.
- Analytical mindset for defect trend analysis and root cause investigation.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with ERP/quality tracking systems is a plus.
- Solid understanding of:
- Wood, metal, glass, fabric, foam, hardware quality parameters.
- Surface finishes (stains, PU, NC, plating, powder coating) and common defects.
- Electrical standards & safety in lighting for export markets (basic understanding of CE/UL, earthing, insulation, load testing).
- Handson use of measuring instruments:
- Vernier caliper, tape, angle gauge, multimeter, lux meter (if used), moisture meter.
- Knowledge of:
- Sampling plans and AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit).
- Basic rootcause analysis tools (WhyWhy, Fishbone, Pareto, etc.).
- Process & Systems
- Experience with:
- QC documentation (checklists, inspection reports, NCRs).
- ISO 9001 or similar quality systems (preferred).
- Basic MS Excel / Google Sheets for reporting and tracking.
- Soft Skills
- High attention to detail, especially for luxury finishing.
- Ability to say No firmly yet constructively when standards are not met.
- Strong communication with production, vendors, and management.
- Problemsolving and followthrough on corrective actions.
- Domain / Luxury Segment Sensitivity
- Understanding of luxury buyer expectations:
- Perfect finishing, consistency, no visible defects.
- Color and finish matching across sets and batches.
- Exposure to export markets (EU/US/Middle East) and their quality expectations is a plus.
