About Lawrence & Mayo

Lawrence & Mayo is a family-run optician with more than 100 stores across India, and we enter our 150th year in January 2027. We are widely considered the market leader in customer service and customer satisfaction.

We are looking for someone to own the largest frame and sunglass portfolio in our network across Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, and to lead the team behind it.

1. The Portfolio

International eyewear brands from around Rs. 5,000 upwards, in both optical frames and sunglasses, across 48 showrooms. Your job is to build on the foundation and growth of recent years and take the portfolio further. It splits two ways:

- The high-volume brands Ray-Ban, Vogue, Oakley and others which you run yourself. The highest SKU counts in the business, stocked across the full network, and the part of the portfolio most of our customers buy from.
- The premium and luxury brands Gucci, Versace, Chanel and Cartier among them run by a Manager reporting to you. The buying judgement there sits with them. How that half of the portfolio performs sits with you.

These are examples rather than the full list, and the portfolio grows as the business does. Done well, the assortment in every showroom looks as though it was chosen for the people who walk into it.

2. What the Role Actually Is

- Own the ordering cycle end to end. You read the sales and stock data, decide what to reorder and in what quantity, decide which showroom gets what, and move or return stock that is not selling.
- Work to three collection releases a year, in February, July and December. The work between them is where the role is won or lost:



analysing what sold from the repeat collection and having the replenishment order ready before the new collection arrives. When it drops, you add the current selection and place one combined order.
- Lead the team that does this work. Today that is a Senior Executive and the Manager who holds the premium and luxury brands and it grows from there. You decide how the cycle runs, you hold the standard, and you build people who can make these calls without you.

3. Who We Are Looking For

- Six to ten years in retail buying, assortment planning, inventory management or supply chain analytics. Optical industry experience is welcome but not required.
- A real manager. More than two direct reports, continuously, for more than two years. This role manages from day one, so it is not a first management position.
- Strong with data. Advanced Excel, and comfortable finding a stock problem in a large dataset and turning it into an ordering decision.
- Comfortable at scale. A high-SKU portfolio across a large store network, without losing pace or accuracy.
- Disciplined. Deadlines here are fixed by the collection calendar, not by us.
- Education. A bachelor's degree is required; an MBA or a supply chain qualification is preferred.
