Nagpur

Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

TicketGateway Inc. | Full-time, permanent | On-site in Nagpur, Maharashtra

Salary: ₹80,000–1,00,000 per month

Reports to: Head of Engineering

ON-SITE ROLE — NAGPUR

Regular in-person work from our Nagpur office is a requirement for this position. Please apply only if you can work in office in Nagpur, or relocate before joining. This is not a remote role.

ABOUT TICKETGATEWAY

TicketGateway (ticketgateway.com) is a Toronto-based, founder-led event ticketing platform serving live events across Canada, the US and the Caribbean. Our software supports ticket purchases, organizer tools, payments, ticket inventory and event scanning, including TG LiveScan. Correct transactions and dependable event-day operations matter as much as shipping new features.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on senior engineer with strong backend judgment who can own a feature or production problem from investigation through implementation, testing, deployment and follow-up. You will work with our Head of Engineering and existing team, review code, help other developers and explain technical trade-offs clearly.

Our current platform uses PHP and MySQL/MariaDB. We are also evaluating a substantial platform rebuild that may involve an external development partner. The rebuild and its technology stack are not yet committed. You will help assess options, work effectively on the existing platform and, if we proceed, review the partner’s work and help our internal team take ownership of the delivered system. This role includes ongoing maintenance and modernization, not only new development.

FEATURE IMPLEMENTATION

- Turn business and user needs into clear requirements, acceptance criteria and a practical technical approach. Discuss trade-offs with product and engineering colleagues before building.
- Implement features end-to-end: database changes, backend logic, APIs, frontend interfaces and third-party integrations. Break larger projects into useful releases and communicate estimates, dependencies and risks.
- Test normal flows, edge cases and failure scenarios; work with QA and stakeholders to validate behavior before release.
- Deploy features safely, document how they work, monitor adoption, errors and performance after launch, and iterate from user feedback and measurable results.
- Potential projects include organizer dashboards, checkout improvements, event-management tools, reporting and scanning workflows; priorities will be agreed with the team.

PLATFORM RELIABILITY AND TEAMWORK
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs and full-stack features for checkout, orders, ticket inventory and organizer workflows.
- Protect transaction correctness: handle concurrent purchases, expiring reservations, duplicate or delayed payment notifications, refunds and reconciliation without overselling or issuing duplicate tickets.
- Improve SQL queries, indexes and data models; use transactions, background jobs and caching appropriately.
- Diagnose production issues using logs and monitoring, address root causes and add meaningful regression coverage.
- Deliver maintainable code with automated tests, code review, clear deployment steps and rollback plans. Improve access controls,

secrets handling and protection of customer data.
- Support reliable integrations with payment providers, email/SMS services, scanning applications and partner systems.
- Coordinate with product and engineering colleagues, break down work, communicate risks early and mentor developers through practical reviews.

POSSIBLE REBUILD AND CONTRACTOR COLLABORATION If a rebuild proceeds, you will work with the Head of Engineering to:
- Document existing business rules and critical flows before replacing them, including orders, payments, refunds, organizer reporting and ticket validation.
- Compare proposed technologies and architecture against maintainability, delivery risk, operating costs and the internal team’s capabilities.
- Review contractor designs, code and milestones against agreed acceptance criteria; raise concerns with evidence and propose fixes.
- Plan and validate data migration, integration compatibility, performance testing, staged rollout and rollback. Check migrated orders and financial records against the source system.
- Help ensure TicketGateway has company-controlled repositories and infrastructure, repeatable deployments, useful documentation and a practical handover so the internal team can operate and extend the platform.

AI FEATURES AND DEVELOPMENT You will help identify, design and implement useful AI-powered features for TicketGateway, as well as use AI to improve engineering delivery.
- Work with product and business teams to identify problems where AI can create measurable value, define success criteria and decide when a conventional solution is more appropriate.
- Build prototypes and take approved ideas into production, including model API integrations, relevant data retrieval, application interfaces and workflow automation. Possible applications include organizer support, event-content assistance, event discovery and internal operations; these are examples, not a committed roadmap.
- Connect AI features to authorized business data and tools with appropriate permissions, output validation and human review for consequential actions.
- Create evaluation examples and test output quality, failure cases and misuse. Monitor response time, usage cost and reliability; implement fallbacks and improve the feature using feedback.

We want evidence of practical AI experience:
- Use AI coding assistants for development, debugging, refactoring or test creation, while personally reviewing the code and verifying its behavior.
- Show at least one working AI-powered feature or internal automation you helped build using a model API or equivalent integration. Explain your contribution, how you assessed output quality and how failures were handled.
- Understand basic AI integration concerns: sensitive data, permissions, prompt injection, structured outputs, latency, cost and fallback behavior.

Keep payment and ticketing decisions behind validated application rules and appropriate approvals.

You do not need to train models or be a machine-learning researcher. We value working software and sound judgment over a list of AI tool names. WHAT YOU BRING
- A track record of independently delivering and supporting production web applications. Typically 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent evidence of senior-level responsibility.
- Strong backend engineering in PHP, TypeScript/Node.js or another established web stack, plus the ability and willingness to read, debug and safely modify our existing PHP application. Prior production PHP experience is strongly preferred; a PHP-only career is not required.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills, including schema design, query optimization, transactions and data integrity.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework; React is preferred.
- Experience integrating transaction-heavy systems, such as payments, e-commerce, bookings or ticketing, with a clear understanding of retries, concurrency and failure cases.
- Practical skills in Git, code review, automated testing, deployment pipelines, production monitoring and secure API design.
- Evidence of AI-assisted development and a working AI integration or automation.
- Clear communication, ownership of deadlines and quality, and the judgment to ask for help before a small risk becomes a production incident.
- Ability to work on-site in Nagpur.

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE
- CodeIgniter or Laravel; production TypeScript/Node.js services.
- Legacy modernization, data migrations or taking over software built by an agency or contractor.
- Cloud hosting, background job systems, Redis, load testing or event scanning/offline synchronization.
- Reviewing technical designs and helping a small engineering team improve its delivery practices.

FIRST 90 DAYS Learn the existing architecture and critical business flows, ship a tested improvement, and establish a clear view of technical risks. Improve an agreed reliability or delivery issue, demonstrate effective use of AI with verified results, and contribute a practical modernization assessment. Rebuild commitments and delivery milestones will be agreed after discovery.

COMPENSATION AND DETAILS

- Salary: ₹80,000–1,00,000 per month, depending on relevant experience.
- Type: Full-time, permanent.
