Talent500 is hiring for one of its clients.
Who are we:
Core Insurance Platforms (CIP) is Zurich’s global capability responsible for building, running, and evolving core insurance technology. We set a unified, scalable operating model—covering governance, standards, architecture, service delivery, and reuse—so our business units can deliver at speed and scale.
CIP is the strategic steward of Zurich’s Guidewire ecosystem, aligning platform roadmaps to business strategy while driving stability, modernization, reduced supplier dependency, and long term cost efficiency.
India delivery center is one of our global delivery and capability hub. We bring together experts in AI, engineering, analysis, quality, and architecture to deliver product & process solutions, application run services, change and transformation initiatives, and centralized platform services across both on prem and Guidewire Cloud environments. Our teams operate from multiple global delivery centers, supporting Zurich’s business units worldwide.
Job Overview:
- Location: Hyderabad - India
- Contract: Full time
- Function: Retail & Life Technology – Group Technology & Operations
What you'll do:
Build and deliver:
- Design, develop, test and release full stack features, owning work from refinement through to production and post-release monitoring.
- Build responsive, accessible and performant interfaces in React and TypeScript, using our design system and component library.
- Design and implement secure, well-documented APIs and services, together with the data models, integrations and background jobs behind them.
- Break large work into small, safely releasable increments and keep delivery flow predictable.
Engineer with AI:
- Use Claude Code as a daily working tool: agentic and prompt-driven development, refactoring, test generation, codebase exploration and documentation.
- Set up and maintain effective project context for AI tooling (repository-level instruction files, custom commands, guardrails, tool integrations).
- Critically review AI-generated code for correctness, security, licensing and maintainability — you stay accountable for everything you merge.
- Share patterns and prompt techniques that work, and help raise the team's AI engineering maturity.
Quality, security and operations:
- Write automated tests at the right level (unit, integration, contract, end-to-end) and treat coverage as a design tool, not a target.
- Apply secure-by-design principles:
threat awareness, input validation, authentication and authorisation, secrets handling, dependency hygiene.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, observability, alerting and incident response for the services your team owns.
- Keep technical debt visible and manageable, and improve performance, reliability and cost efficiency.
Collaborate and improve:
- Work closely with product owners, designers, architects, security and other engineering teams to shape solutions and trade-offs.
- Review peers' code constructively, pair or mob when it helps, and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Document decisions clearly, including architecture decision records and solution documentation aligned to our architecture documentation standard.
- Take part in refinement, planning, retrospectives and communities of practice, and bring ideas for how we can work better.
Technical skills we're looking for:
- Frontend
- Strong React (function components, hooks, composition patterns, state management such as Redux Toolkit, Zustand or TanStack Query), TypeScript, modern build tooling (Vite or similar), component-driven development with Storybook, forms and validation, routing, and meta-frameworks such as Next.js as a plus.
- Frontend quality
- Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, semantic HTML, responsive mobile-first CSS (Tailwind, CSS Modules or styled-components), Core Web Vitals and bundle-size awareness, internationalization and localization.
- Backend
- Confident in at least one contemporary backend stack — Php (Laravel Octane), Node.js (NestJS, Express, Fastify), Python (FastAPI, Django) — with clean layering, dependency injection and domain modelling.
- APIs and integration
API-first design with REST and OpenAPI; versioning, pagination, idempotency, error contracts, rate limiting and resilience patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers); event-driven integration (Kafka, Service Bus, queues) a solid plus.
- Data
- Relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) including schema design, indexing,
query tuning and migrations; NoSQL and caching (MongoDB, Redis, Cosmos DB) where it fits; ORM use and its limits.
- Security
- Practical grasp of OWASP Top 10, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, JWT handling, session and cookie security, encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, and secure handling of personal data under GDPR and local regulation.
- Testing
- Test-first habits; Jest or Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress, contract testing such as Pact, and backend integration testing with containers.
- DevOps and cloud
- Git with trunk-based or short-lived-branch workflows, CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or GitLab), Docker, at least one public cloud (Azure or AWS), Kubernetes basics, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep) and feature flagging.
- Observability
- Structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, dashboards and alerts (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk or similar); using telemetry to debug production and define SLOs.
- AI-assisted engineering - Minimum one year of hands-on professional experience with Claude Code, including agentic workflows, repository context configuration, multi-step task delegation, tool and MCP integrations, and disciplined review of generated output. Awareness of cost, data-handling and intellectual property considerations.
- Architecture - Clean and layered architecture, domain-driven design basics, C4-style diagramming, documenting solutions in a structured template, and pragmatic evaluation of trade-offs and build-versus-buy.
Your experience:
- Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience with genuine breadth across frontend and backend.
- At least one year of hands-on Claude Code experience in a professional development setting.
- A track record of delivering and running production systems used by real customers.
- Degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. We care more about what you can do than how you learned it.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have:
- Experience in insurance, banking or another regulated industry.
- Exposure to legacy modernization, mainframe integration or large-scale migrations.
- Experience with design systems, micro-frontends or modular monoliths.
- Performance engineering, load testing, or FinOps and cloud cost optimization.
- Contributions to open source, technical writing or conference speaking.
