Job PurposeTo support the development, improvement, testing and technical evaluation of food ingredient products and processes, ensuring compliance with quality, food safety and regulatory requirements. The role will involve product development, laboratory analysis, process improvement, documentation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities1. Product Development & Process Improvement

- Assist in development and modification of food ingredient products as per customer and market requirements.
- Conduct laboratory trials, product testing and process optimization.
- Support scale-up activities from laboratory trials to production.
- Identify opportunities for improving product quality, yield and process efficiency.
- Conduct trials for new raw materials, formulations and processing methods.

2. Quality & Food Safety

- Ensure products comply with applicable food safety, quality and regulatory standards.
- Monitor product specifications and quality parameters.
- Coordinate with Quality Control for sampling, testing and evaluation of products.
- Investigate product/process deviations and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FSSAI and other applicable food safety requirements.

3. Laboratory & Technical Activities

- Perform and coordinate physical, chemical and functional testing of food ingredients.
- Maintain laboratory records, test reports and trial documentation.
- Evaluate raw materials, finished products and samples against defined specifications.
- Conduct shelf-life and stability studies wherever applicable.
- Maintain proper records of product development and technical trials.

4. Documentation & Technical Support

- Prepare product specifications, technical data sheets, trial reports and other technical documents.
- Support preparation and review of SOPs, work instructions and process documents.
- Maintain product development and formulation records.
- Provide technical information and support to Sales & Marketing teams for customer requirements and queries.
- Assist in preparation of technical responses to customer complaints and product-related concerns.

5. Regulatory & Compliance

- Stay updated on applicable food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance with FSSAI, HACCP, GMP, ISO and other relevant standards.
- Assist during internal, customer and regulatory audits.
- Ensure required technical and quality documentation is maintained and updated.

Cross-functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Purchase, Sales & Marketing and R&D; teams.
- Work closely with production teams during product and process trials.
- Support customer/sample development requirements in coordination with the commercial team.
- Participate in technical meetings and provide inputs related to food technology and product performance.

- Strong knowledge of Food Technology, Food Science and Food Processing.
- Knowledge of food ingredients and their functional properties.
- Understanding of HACCP, GMP, FSSAI and food safety systems.

Educational QualificationEssential:

- B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Processing or a related discipline.

Preferred:

- Postgraduate qualification in Food Technology / Food Science or related field.

Experience
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in Food Technology, Food Ingredients, Dairy Ingredients, Food Processing, R&D; or a related manufacturing environment.
- Experience in product development, process trials, quality evaluation and technical documentation will be preferred.

Role Description The Senior Executive Food Technologist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This position is responsible for overseeing product development and optimization of lactose- and lactulose-based ingredients and related formulations, ensuring they meet regulatory, quality, and safety requirements. Day-to-day tasks include planning and conducting laboratory tests, analyzing data, documenting findings, and collaborating with production, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to scale up products from lab to commercial manufacturing.

The Senior

Executive will also support process improvement initiatives, troubleshoot technical issues in production, assist in developing technical specifications, and contribute to client presentations or technical documentation. The role requires close coordination with cross-functional stakeholders to meet timelines, maintain high product standards, and support new business opportunities.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in food technology, dairy science, or food science, with practical experience in ingredient or dosage form development.
- Knowledge of lactose, lactulose, or related carbohydrate-based ingredients and their functional applications in food or pharmaceutical products.
- Experience with laboratory methods, product testing, data analysis, and technical documentation in a regulated environment.
- Understanding of quality systems, Positive Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene standards, and relevant national/international regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with production, QA/QC, R&D;, and regulatory teams, and to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience in a food ingredient, dairy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing company is highly desirable.
- Comfort working on-site in a manufacturing and laboratory environment within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
