Talent500 is hiring for one of its clients.

Who are we:

Core Insurance Platforms (CIP) is Zurich’s global capability responsible for building, running, and evolving core insurance technology. We set a unified, scalable operating model—covering governance, standards, architecture, service delivery, and reuse—so our business units can deliver at speed and scale.

CIP is the strategic steward of Zurich’s Guidewire ecosystem, aligning platform roadmaps to business strategy while driving stability, modernization, reduced supplier dependency, and long term cost efficiency.

India delivery center is one of our global delivery and capability hub. We bring together experts in AI, engineering, analysis, quality, and architecture to deliver product & process solutions, application run services, change and transformation initiatives, and centralized platform services across both on prem and Guidewire Cloud environments. Our teams operate from multiple global delivery centers, supporting Zurich’s business units worldwide.

What you'll do:

- Build and run cloud platforms:
- Implement and maintain infrastructure on Azure and AWS using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or similar).
- Help teams design secure, resilient deployments: networking, load balancing, identity & access, storage, backups and DR considerations.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for applications and infrastructure, supporting multiple environments (development, test, staging, production).
- Support container platforms (e.g. Kubernetes / AKS / EKS) and associated tooling where relevant.

Automate, standardize and improve:

- Create reusable templates, modules and pipeline patterns teams can adopt across applications.
- Automate repeatable operational tasks (provisioning, configuration, scaling, patching, housekeeping).
- Contribute to platform documentation and runbooks that make adoption and operations easier.
- Help define and refine standards for branching, releases, change management and deployment practices.

Work with AI in DevOps:

- Use AI assistants (e.g. Claude Code) for tasks like generating IaC scaffolding, pipeline YAML, runbook drafts and log pattern analysis — always with critical review.
- Maintain effective context for AI tooling (repository instructions, safe prompt patterns, guardrails around secrets and sensitive data).
- Apply AI tools to speed up troubleshooting and diagnostics, for example summarizing logs or suggesting hypotheses during incidents.
- Share AI usage patterns that work and help the team use AI responsibly in a regulated environment.

Incident support and reliability:

- Participate in incident support, including on-call rotations where applicable, and support teams in triage and resolution.
- Help define monitoring, alerting and SLOs for services and platforms — so incidents are detected early and signals are meaningful.
- Contribute to post-incident reviews, follow through on actions, and help turn incidents into learning and improvement.

- Work with teams to reduce toil and improve reliability through automation, resilience patterns and proactive maintenance.

Collaborate and enable:

- Partner with application teams, architects, security and the Cloud Centre of Enablement to design solutions that fit Zurich’s cloud and security frameworks.
- Coach development teams on good DevOps practices: CI/CD, logging, metrics, incident readiness and cloud fundamentals.
- Take part in refinement, planning and retrospectives, and bring ideas for how our platform and processes can improve.
- Share knowledge via documentation, demos, communities of practice and informal coaching.

Technical skills we're looking for:

- Cloud (Azure & AWS) - Practical experience designing and operating workloads on both Azure and AWS. Familiarity with core services (compute, storage, networking, managed databases, identity & access), account/subscription/landing zone concepts, and cost-awareness.
- Infrastructure as Code - Strong experience with Terraform, including module design, state management, environment segregation, variable handling, and implementing secure and reliable Infrastructure as Code practices. Experience with additional IaC tools such as Bicep and/or AWS CloudFormation is considered a plus. Ability to review and validate IaC code for security, maintainability, and operational resilience.
- CI/CD - Hands-on experience building and maintaining pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or similar). Familiar with build/test stages, artefact management, environment promotion, approvals, build pipelines, repos and rollback strategies.
- Containers & orchestration - Understanding of Docker, container images and registries. Experience with Kubernetes (AKS/EKS) or similar: basic concepts (pods, deployments, services, ingress, config maps, secrets), and Helm or other packaging tools.
- Databases: MySQL and PostgreSQL - Practical experience supporting MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases in production environments. Ability to perform operational troubleshooting, analyse database-related incidents, review logs and connectivity issues, and collaborate with application and database teams on resolution. Knowledge of database migration activities, particularly MySQL-to-PostgreSQL migrations, including validation, deployment support, rollback considerations and post-migration monitoring.
- Observability - Practical use of logging, metrics and tracing tools (e.g. Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Application Insight). Ability to define meaningful alerts and dashboards for applications and platforms.
- Security & compliance - Awareness of cloud security basics:

IAM roles, policies, key management, network security (NSGs, security groups), secrets handling (Key Vault), and compliance with data protection requirements in a regulated workplace.
- Networking in the cloud - Good understanding of VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, DNS, load balancers, application gateways, private endpoints and connectivity patterns between on-prem and cloud.
- Scripting & automation - Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash or Python. Comfortable working with CLIs and APIs to interact with Azure, AWS and related tooling.
- AI-assisted DevOps - Basic experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude Code) to support DevOps work: generating pipeline or IaC snippets, summarizing logs, drafting documentation or runbooks. Clear understanding that AI outputs must be reviewed for accuracy, security and compliance.
- Version control & branching - Confident with Git, pull requests and branching strategies (e.g. trunk-based, short-lived branches). Comfortable reviewing changes from multiple teams and managing merge conflicts.
- Collaborating and delivery tooling - Hands-on experience using Jira, Confluence and Microsoft Teams in an Agile delivery and operational support environment. Ability to manage and track technical work, document solutions and operational procedures, maintain runbooks and knowledge articles, and coordinate activities across development, DevOps, operations and incident-management teams.

Your experience:

- Practical experience as a DevOps engineer, cloud engineer or similar role working closely with development teams.
- Hands-on exposure to both Azure and AWS, including deploying and supporting workloads on each with terraform.
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in a multi-environment setup with Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes platforms in production, including cluster administration, maintenance, patching, version upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring platform reliability and availability.
- Some experience using AI tools in DevOps (for example, Claude Code) and a explicit understanding of their limits and review needs.
- Experience participating in incident support: contributing to triage, resolution, and post-incident actions.
- Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent English; is an advantage.

Nice to have:

- Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry.
- Exposure to platform engineering, internal developer platforms or self-service tooling.
- Experience with cost optimization (FinOps) across Azure and AWS.
- Familiarity with service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and ServiceNow or similar tooling.
- Contributions to internal communities of practice or external communities (open source, meetups, blogs).
- Experience working with GitHub Enterprise, including GitHub Actions, repository administration, and DevOps workflow integration.
