Position - School Principal (CBSE)
Location: Latur, Maharashtra The Principal will provide strategic and academic leadership to the Latur campus, taking complete ownership of student learning outcomes, admissions and retention, staff quality, financial discipline, statutory compliance, and co-curricular excellence. The role carries full accountability for the six Key Result Areas (KRAs) defined for this position and is central to establishing the School as a preferred school in the region.
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Excellence & Board Results (Weight: 30%)
- Take full ownership of Class 10 and Class 12 CBSE board outcomes, driving toward a 100% pass rate and a growing share of students scoring 95% and above.
- Monitor school-average performance and merit positions year-on-year, and put in place early-intervention plans for at-risk students and cohorts.
- Lead curriculum planning, lesson observation, and assessment design in line with CBSE guidelines, ensuring consistent academic rigor across all grades.
- Review subject-wise and teacher-wise performance data monthly with HODs and coordinators, and course-correct through targeted academic support.
2. Admissions & Student Retention (Weight: 20%)
- Own the annual admissions target for the academic year and drive enrolment through community outreach, open houses, and referral programs.
- Build the school's local reputation and brand presence in Latur through visible academic and co-curricular achievements.
- Implement structured parent engagement and grievance-redressal mechanisms to keep overall student attrition at or below 7%.
- Partner with the marketing/admissions team on enquiry-to-admission conversion tracking and campaign effectiveness.
3. Staff Development, Quality & Retention (Weight: 15%)
- Ensure 100% of teaching staff complete the mandatory 50-hour professional development requirement each year.
- Conduct regular classroom observations using the defined rubric, targeting an average score of 85% or above, and mentor teachers on identified gaps.
- Build a strong hiring, induction, and retention pipeline for quality teaching and non-teaching staff, keeping voluntary attrition at or below 7%.
- Create a positive, high-performance staff culture through recognition, coaching, and clear career pathways.
4. Financial Management & Fee Collection (Weight: 15%)
- Drive timely fee collection against instalment schedules, targeting 98% or higher on-time collection.
- Prepare and manage the school's annual and monthly budgets, ensuring 100% adherence with zero unapproved expense overruns.
- Oversee vendor management, procurement approvals, and cost controls in line with organizational financial policy.
- Report financial performance and variances to the management on a monthly and quarterly basis.
5. Statutory Compliance & Safety (Weight: 10%)
- Ensure 100% compliance with all CBSE and Maharashtra State Education Department mandates, including POCSO guidelines and periodic fire and safety drills.
- Constitute and maintain statutory committees — PTA, School Management Committee (SMC), and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) — with proper documentation and minutes.
- Maintain zero tolerance for regulatory non-compliance, and ensure the school operates free of statutory notices or violations.
- Act as the school's primary point of accountability during inspections, audits, and affiliations renewal.
6. SSPA & Holistic Performance (Weight: 10%)
- Champion sports and performing arts (SSPA) as a core differentiator, ensuring documented podium finishes at CBSE cluster, district, state, or national level.
- Ensure at least one Art–Sports integrated project is delivered per term,
per grade, embedding co-curricular learning into the academic calendar.
- Build partnerships, coaching support, and facilities that give students a genuine competitive edge beyond academics.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Education, a core academic subject, or Educational Leadership/Administration (Master's degree mandatory).
- B.Ed. is mandatory; M.Ed., a doctoral qualification, or a certification in educational leadership/school management is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of overall teaching/academic experience, including at least 5 years in a Principal, Vice-Principal, or comparable school leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience with a CBSE-affiliated school is essential; experience leading a school through board-result improvement or growth phase is strongly preferred.
- Prior accountability for admissions, P&L;/budgets, staff appraisal, or regulatory compliance in a school setting will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Robust instructional leadership with the ability to translate CBSE curriculum requirements into consistent classroom outcomes.
- Sound financial and operational acumen — budgeting, fee management, and vendor/cost discipline.
- Working knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to CBSE schools, including child-safety norms.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and community-relationship-building skills for parents, staff, and local authorities.
- People leadership — coaching, performance management, and building a motivated, low-attrition staff team.
- Passion for holistic education, including sports and performing arts, alongside academics.
