Maitrayana leverages the power of sport to create ecosystems that empower girls and women to fulfil their potential.

Empower

Build adolescent girls (10-17 years) and young women (18 – 25 years) assets, confidence, voice, and the use of agency while synergising with parents and communities to create ecosystems for adolescent girls and young women’s empowerment.

Enable

Providing consultancy services and advocate for systemic change that will advance a gender equal society through collaborations with government, businesses, NGOs, etc

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Maitrayana implements the Young People's Initiative (YPI), a sport-for-development programme that empowers adolescent girls and young women to realise their full potential. YPI focuses on creating safe and inclusive spaces through sport in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Building on this foundation, Maitrayana engages YPI alumni through the Economic Justice Programme (EJP), which aims to enhance young women's access to economic opportunities. The programme supports participants in pursuing their economic empowerment goals by helping them acquire essential knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences, with guidance from mentors, parents, and industry partners.

ROLE OVERVIEW The Community & Resource Mobilizer is a critical on-ground role responsible for driving community outreach and ensuring the active participation of adolescent girls and young women in Maitrayana’s programs. Reporting directly to the Program Coordinator,



you will act as the bridge between the organization and the local community. Your primary focus will be conducting mobilization drives, engaging with parents and community stakeholders, and ensuring consistent participant attendance in our sports and leadership initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Community Outreach & Participant Mobilization

- Conduct door-to-door visits, awareness campaigns, and community meetings to identify and enroll adolescent girls and young women into Maitrayana’s programs.
- Clearly communicate the mission of Maitrayana and the benefits of sports and life-skills education to potential participants and their families.
- Organize and execute localized mobilization drives to meet enrollment targets set by the Program Coordinator.

2. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building

- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, addressing their concerns and securing their consent and support for their daughters' participation in sports.
- Engage with community leaders, local schools, and other local resources/stakeholders to create a safe and supportive environment for the girls.
- Identify and mitigate potential community-level barriers or resistance to girls playing sports and accessing public spaces.

3. Participant Retention & Tracking

- Ensure regular attendance and active participation of enrolled girls in all scheduled sessions, workshops, and sports activities.
- Track participant absenteeism, conduct follow-up home visits, and counsel girls and their families to prevent dropouts.




- Accompany participants to and from events or sessions when necessary to ensure their safety and build trust.

4. Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate daily/weekly registers of participant enrollment, attendance, and baseline information.
- Share regular field updates, challenges, and community feedback with the Program Coordinator.
- Assist the team in gathering case studies, success stories, and data for impact assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES We are looking for an individual candidate who is excited to contribute to building the organisation based on the values of integrity, transparency, respect, and inclusion.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW/MSW), Sociology, or a related field. (Candidates with relevant grassroots experience in lieu of a formal degree will also be considered).

Experience:

Minimum 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in community mobilization, field outreach, or social work, preferably within Mumbai's local communities.

Background:

Prior experience working on women’s empowerment, youth development, or sports-for-development (S4D) projects is a strong advantage.

Key Competencies & Skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to converse persuasively with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to navigate community dynamics, resolve conflicts, and handle sensitive gender-related issues with empathy and tact.
- Willingness to spend the majority of working hours in the field, traveling extensively within designated communities in Mumbai.
- Deep commitment to gender equality, child rights, and Maitrayana’s core values.
