RMO Resident Medical Officer

Department: Medical / Clinical Services

Designation: Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

Reporting To: Medical Superintendent / Consultant / Hospital Administration

Job Purpose To provide timely and effective medical care to admitted patients, monitor their clinical condition, maintain accurate medical records, and coordinate with consultants and nursing staff for smooth patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Attend to admitted patients and provide appropriate medical care as per hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, clinical condition, and treatment response regularly.
- Conduct initial patient assessment and inform the concerned consultant about any significant findings.
- Carry out consultant instructions and ensure timely implementation of treatment plans.
- Attend to medical emergencies and take immediate necessary action within the scope of practice.
- Coordinate with nursing staff regarding medications, investigations, procedures, and patient care.
- Review investigation reports and communicate significant abnormalities to the concerned consultant.
- Maintain complete and accurate EMR (Electronic Medical Records), including patient history, examination findings, progress notes, treatment orders, and clinical updates.
- Ensure proper documentation of all patient-related activities in the EMR and hospital records.
- Prepare and maintain discharge summaries, transfer notes, referral notes, and other required medical documentation.
- Ensure proper medication documentation and follow hospital medication and patient-safety protocols.




- Monitor post-procedure and post-operative patients and promptly report any deterioration.
- Attend patient and attendant queries professionally and escalate clinical concerns to the concerned consultant.
- Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, ICU, OT, and other departments whenever required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow hospital policies, NABH standards, and clinical protocols.
- Participate in handover and ensure proper communication between shifts.
- Maintain professional behaviour and promote quality patient care at all times.
- Perform any other clinical responsibilities assigned by the Medical Superintendent or Hospital Management.

Required Qualifications

- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid registration with the appropriate Medical Council.
- Relevant hospital/clinical experience preferred.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to use EMR systems.
