JOB ROLE An ICU staff nurse provides critical, round-the-clock medical care and continuous monitoring for unstable, seriously ill, or recovering patients in the intensive care unit.

Patient Assessment & Monitoring

- Check and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen levels, every hour.
- Perform full physical head-to-toe exams to evaluate neurological status, wounds, and device placements.




- Monitor fluid intake and output closely to detect electrolyte imbalances or emerging complications like shock.

Clinical Care & Treatment

- Administer intravenous (IV) fluids, blood products, and prescribed medications safely.
- Manage and maintain advanced medical equipment, including mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, and specialized lines.
- Respond immediately to life-threatening medical emergencies and assist doctors with bedside procedures.

Documentation & Communication

- Maintain detailed electronic medical records and chart patient progress accurately.
- Give clear shift-change handovers and update doctors on subtle changes in patient status.
- Provide emotional support and explain treatment plans to anxious family members

Qualifications & Skills

- Hold an active registered nurse (RN) degree or nursing license with specialized ICU training.
- Demonstrate proficiency in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and critical care protocols.
- Possess robust crisis-management skills, high attention to detail, and physical stamina.
