: Quality Engineer
We are looking for technically skilled candidates with excellent attention to detail for the position of Quality Engineer.
The Quality
Engineer will be responsible for establishing and maintaining world-class quality systems across the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will lead quality assurance initiatives, drive continuous improvement, reduce customer complaints, and enhance product reliability while working closely with Production, Maintenance, Sales, and R&D; teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC.
- Proficient knowledge and practical experience in Quality Tools such as SPC, MSA, FMEA, PPAP, CAPA, and 8D for quality control and problem-solving activities.
- Good understanding of assembly processes, manufacturing engineering, special purpose machines (SPMs), welding, plating, and lean manufacturing practices.
- The candidate must possess the capability to create Quality check sheets and other pertinent documentation.
- Well-versed in Oracle NetSuite or SAP, ISO 9001:2015 standards, and quality management system requirements.
- Lead the Quality Assurance function for Water Treatment Products manufacturing operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Ensure product quality from raw material inspection through in-process quality control to final dispatch.
- Establish and monitor quality KPIs, including rejection rates, customer complaints, first-pass yield, and cost of poor quality.
- Lead investigations into customer complaints, non-conformities, and process deviations using Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and ensure their effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of all quality inspection and testing equipment.
- Review product specifications,
inspection plans, quality standards, and testing procedures.
- Coordinate with Production, Process Engineering, and Maintenance to improve process capability and product consistency.
- Lead internal quality audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements and international quality standards.
- Develop and mentor the Quality Assurance team through training and performance management.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.
- Support new product development and qualification activities by ensuring quality requirements are met.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and statutory compliance requirements within the Quality function.

- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing and digital quality systems is desirable.

- Evaluate supplier performance by providing constructive feedback and conducting monthly/quarterly supplier performance reviews and assessment processes.
- Collaborate with sourcing teams for new supplier assessment, qualification, and PPAP approval of new parts in line with GWS quality requirements.
- Work closely with commercial, engineering, and manufacturing teams to enhance supplier quality systems, improve delivery performance, and ensure continual compliance with ABB standards.
Skill-wise Proficiency Levels
- Analytical Thinking: Intermediate level; evaluating supplier data to identify root causes and trends.
- Supplier Quality Management: Intermediate level; ensuring purchased parts meet specifications and standards.
- Production Part Approval Process: Intermediate level; validating supplier readiness and part conformance.
- Ethical Integrity: Intermediate level; maintaining compliance and transparency in supplier relationships.
- Auditing: Developing level; conducting supplier assessments to verify quality systems.
- Advanced Product Quality Planning: Developing level; collaborating on launch readiness with suppliers.
- Statistical Process Control: Developing level; monitoring process capability and stability metrics.
Requirements
- Qualification: Engineering Graduate/Diploma (B.E./B. Tech) in Mechanical or Tool & Die Making with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Solid problem-solving abilities with a track record of driving issues to closure independently.
- Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Capability to mentor others and provide technical leadership on non-routine quality matters.
- Flexibility to adapt and prioritize in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- The Candidate is responsible for managing both Incoming and In-process Quality processes.
