1. Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Officer to join our project site team in Kakinada. The candidate will be responsible for enforcing strict Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) standards across site activities, performing mandatory raw material and structural testing, conducting stage-wise inspections, and maintaining technical compliance with project specifications.
1. Key Responsibilities & Operational Duties
* Site Inspection & Quality Enforcement – Perform daily site inspections for ongoing civil and mechanical construction works to ensure full compliance with approved Field Quality Plans (FQP), Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), and project drawings.
– Conduct pre-concreting and post-concreting inspections, shuttering/formwork checks, reinforcement rebar verification, and structural alignments.
– Inspect mechanical installations, structural steel fabrication, alignment, fit-up, and welding joint checks (where applicable).
- Material Testing & Laboratory Operations
– Manage the site testing laboratory and conduct sampling/testing of raw materials (cement, aggregates, sand, rebar, structural steel, additives, etc.) as per IS / ASTM standards.
– Perform destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT), slump tests, cube compressive strength tests, sieve analysis, moisture content,
and compaction density tests.
– Maintain calibration certificates for all site laboratory testing equipment and measuring instruments.
- Non-Conformance Management & Audits
– Identify quality deviations, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), and work closely with execution teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
– Participate in internal quality audits and support client/third-party inspector (TPI) audits at the site.
- Documentation & Reporting
– Maintain comprehensive QA/QC records, test registers, inspection requests (RFI), and concrete pour cards.
– Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports detailing pass/fail ratios, material test summaries, and field audit observations for management review.
1. Required Qualifications & Technical Competencies
Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in QA/QC operations at industrial, infrastructure, or heavy engineering project sites.
Standards & Codes: Sound knowledge of Indian Standards (IS codes), ASTM, ISO 9001 standards, and testing procedures for civil/mechanical packages.
Inspection & Testing: Hands-on experience with field/lab testing methods (concrete testing, soil testing, NDT methods, weld inspection techniques).
Documentation: Proficiency in maintaining RFIs, Pour Cards, NCR trackers, test registers, and generating structured daily quality reports.
Location Requirement: Must be willing to be permanently stationed at the site in Kakinada.
