Reliance Current Energy Battery Business is looking for QA Lab Engineer - Mettalographic role at Jamnagar.

ROLE OBJECTIVE

As Executive Metallographic, the incumbent will:

- Oversee metallographic examination of battery module and pack weld joints to ensure structural integrity.
- Conduct microstructure analysis, hardness testing, and defect evaluation of welded components
- Use optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for weld quality verification and failure analysis
- implement destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including X-ray, ultrasonic, and dye penetrant testing for weld integrity checks.
- Maintain test records, calibration certificates, and metallographic analysis reports for audit readiness.
- Ensure adherence to global standards (IEC 62619, UL 9540, UN38.3, ASTM, ISO 18279) related to BESS manufacturing
- Prepare detailed lab reports, quality control documentation, and failure analysis reports.
- Lead and mentor a team of lab technicians, metallurgists, and calibration engineers.
- Conduct training sessions on proper testing procedures, calibration techniques, and quality control methodologies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D;, and quality teams to improve testing efficiency and reliability.

STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- Should show proficiency in working with purchasing staff, design and manufacturing engineers to establish quality requirements from supplier
- Develop and assure Supplier quality audit plan to meet the objective.




- Manage the root cause analysis and further administer the supplier maintenance and corrective action (Supplier Quality Alert processes)
- Support purchasing, engineering and production departments with supplier quality questions to be answered by supplier quarterly, about their operation and business
- Ensure suppliers are guided on the optimal technologies, processes, tooling, materials and methods for the part and application being designed to meet companies compliance standards
- Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement in supplier processes such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Support recent product launches by ensuring suppliers can deliver to the required quality standards

Education Bachelors Mechanical /Metallurgical engineering

DESIRED PROFILE

Experience

- Has 4+ years’ experience in the manufacturing operation
- At least 3 years of holding relevant position, preferably in high precision manufacturing industries.
- Experience of dealing with suppliers
- Prior experience in quality function in lithium- ion pack manufacturing if any

DESIRED SKILLS

Functional

- Experience in handling measuring equipment’s like Vernier, micrometer, multimeter, tensile pull tester
- Experience in supporting sourcing following the SFQ (Sourcing for Quality) process and managing production part development.
