Python Backend Engineer — Snayu AILocation: India

We’re looking for a Python Backend Engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work and solving problems — not simply completing assigned tickets.

You’ll work closely with the founder and another backend/full-stack engineer to build and improve the backend of our core software platform.

What You’ll Work OnYour responsibilities will include:

- Developing and maintaining backend services using Python and asyncio
- Building systems for dispatching, scheduling, and coordinating background tasks
- Working with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and Alembic
- Designing clean configuration and extension systems that are easy to maintain and expand
- Investigating and fixing issues involving services, processes, workers, and Linux systems
- Handling failures, retries, concurrency, and task execution reliably
- Writing tests and documentation
- Reviewing code and discussing technical decisions with the engineering team
- Helping evolve the architecture as the project grows, rather than simply implementing isolated features

Initially, you’ll work through an existing workflow — from configuration → execution → task processing → database persistence — to understand how the different components interact. From there, you’ll take ownership of a real improvement or engineering problem.

What We’re Looking ForRequired

- Strong knowledge of Python
- Good understanding of asyncio, asynchronous programming, and concurrency
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL and SQL
- Experience with SQLAlchemy and Alembic




- Comfortable working with Linux, services, processes, and logs
- Understanding of background workers, task queues, or similar systems
- Ability to investigate problems independently and explain the reasoning behind your solution
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and an emphasis on maintainable code

Nice to HaveExperience with any of the following is a plus:
- Task queues, orchestration, or job dispatch systems
- Configurable or modular software architectures
- SAQ or similar task-queue systems
- Pydantic / PydanticAI
- Workflow or orchestration frameworks
- pgvector or vector databases
- AI-related applications or developer tools
- Litestar or similar Python web frameworks

AI experience is not required. If you’ve worked with distributed systems, worker processes, job queues, execution engines, or backend infrastructure, that experience is highly relevant.

Professional experience, open-source contributions, or strong personal projects can all demonstrate your abilities.

AI-Assisted DevelopmentWe welcome the use of tools such as AI coding assistants.

However, you should be comfortable reviewing and understanding the code you submit — including AI-generated code — and be able to explain how you tested and verified it.

We care about engineering understanding, not just code generation.
