Python Backend Consultant (Data Engineering & Data Pipelines) /n Employment Type: 6–12-month contract /n Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior-Level /n Pay: $15-$22/hr USD /n Job Summary /n BCI is seeking a skilled contract Python Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and data pipelines. **Please note: This will be a 6-12 month contract. /n The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Python, integrating data from multiple sources, and developing reliable, high-performance backend services that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives. This role requires expertise in Python, cloud technologies, databases, API development, and modern data engineering practices. /n Key Responsibilities /n /n

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.

- Develop backend services and APIs using Python-based frameworks.

- Integrate data from databases, third-party APIs, cloud storage, and enterprise applications.

/n

- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failures, and implement solutions to improve reliability.

/n

- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and automated testing processes.

/n

- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements.

- Optimize database queries and data models for efficient processing and retrieval.

- Deploy and maintain applications and pipelines in cloud environments.

/n /n Required Qualifications /n /n

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field.

/n

- A minimum of 5 years + of experience in Python backend development.

- Solid proficiency in hands on development with Python and object-oriented programming.

- Bash/Shell Scripting

/n

- Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB.

/n

- Experience with data processing libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.

/n

- RESTful API development using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

/n

- Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.

/n

- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

/n

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
