Role & responsibilities

- Identify and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, components, consumables, and engineering items.

- Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) as per approved requirements.

- Obtain quotations from suppliers and negotiate price, delivery, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.

- Compare quotations and prepare comparative statements for purchase decisions.

- Coordinate with suppliers regarding order confirmation, delivery schedules, quality, and payment-related issues.

- Follow up regularly to ensure timely delivery of materials as per production requirements.

- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores, Design, and Accounts departments for purchase-related activities.

- Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness.

- Maintain proper purchase records, supplier documents, quotations, POs, and related documentation.

- Support supplier development, evaluation, and onboarding activities.

- Handle purchase-related issues and coordinate with suppliers for timely resolution.

- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and approved procedures.





- Monitor material requirements and support inventory control to avoid shortages or excess stock.

- Prepare purchase-related reports and maintain MIS as required.

- Assist in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidate profile

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

- 13 years of experience in Purchase / Procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering company.

- Good knowledge of engineering materials, components, and manufacturing processes.

- Experience in supplier development, quotation comparison, price negotiation, and purchase order processing.

- Good communication and negotiation skills.

- Valuable knowledge of MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP/Purchase software.

- Ability to coordinate effectively with suppliers and internal departments.

- Strong follow-up, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple purchase requirements.

- Knowledge of GST, basic commercial terms, and procurement documentation will be an added advantage.
