We are looking for an experienced and technically competent Project Manager NDT to manage and coordinate NDT project activities and support the successful execution of projects across various locations.
The ideal candidate should have 510 years of experience in NDT/Inspection, preferably from the Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Pipeline, EPC or Industrial Inspection industry. Candidates with strong experience in PAUT/UT and advanced NDT techniques are mandatorily required. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating project execution, manpower, equipment, technical activities, documentation, customer communication and project deliverables.
The role requires an individual who can understand both the technical and business aspects of a project, effectively use relevant tools and software, coordinate with multiple stakeholders and take ownership and accountability for project execution.
The selected candidate will be required to develop an understanding of VIPL's NDT systems, equipment and build railway-specific data tools and applications. This candidate will work closely with Field Service Technicians and project teams for execution of projects involving Indian Railways and Metro organisations.
Railway experience is not mandatory. Candidates from the Oil & Gas and related NDT industries with strong project execution experience are encouraged to apply. The company may entrust you with additional job responsibilities from time to time.
Role & responsibilities
NDT Project Management & Execution
- Plan, coordinate and execute NDT projects from initiation through completion.
- Understand project scope, technical requirements, timelines, deliverables and customer expectations.
- Take ownership and accountability for assigned projects and ensure timely completion.
- Prepare project execution plans, schedules and activity trackers.
- Monitor project progress against agreed timelines and deliverables.
- Identify project risks, delays and operational challenges and take corrective action.
- Ensure smooth coordination between technical, field and management teams.
- Support management in achieving project objectives within defined timelines and resources.
NDT Technical Coordination
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of NDT techniques, procedures, equipment and applications.
- Coordinate NDT inspection activities and ensure execution as per approved procedures and customer requirements.
- Coordinate PAUT/NDT data acquisition, analysis,
interpretation and reporting.
- Develop and maintain internal company data validation, analysis and interpretation tools and applications for customer.
- Review technical reports and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with technical teams for troubleshooting and resolution of site-level technical issues.
- Ensure appropriate use and deployment of NDT equipment and inspection systems.
Manpower & Resource Management
- Plan and coordinate deployment of NDT engineers, technicians and other project personnel.
- Assess manpower requirements based on project scope and schedules.
- Coordinate allocation and mobilisation of NDT equipment, tools and other resources.
- Monitor manpower utilisation and project resource requirements.
- Ensure timely mobilisation of personnel and equipment at project sites.
- Coordinate with Field Service Engineers and site teams to resolve operational requirements.
- Monitor team performance and identify operational gaps.
- Support training and knowledge-sharing within the project team.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a point of coordination between customers, project teams and internal management.
- Understand customer requirements and ensure timely communication and execution.
- Participate in customer meetings, project discussions and review meetings.
- Coordinate with vendors, OEM partners, technology partners and other stakeholders as required.
Project Monitoring, MIS & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly and monthly project reports.
- Maintain project trackers covering manpower, equipment, activities, timelines and deliverables.
- Raising and realisation of bills and invoices with the customers upon completion of project milestones.
- Monitor project performance and highlight deviations to management.
- Prepare MIS and management presentations using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Maintain proper records of project activities, inspection data and customer deliverables.
Business System & Process Management
- Develop a thorough understanding of VIPL's business processes,
project workflow and operational systems.
- Assist in developing and improving systems, processes and frameworks for efficient project execution.
- Identify opportunities for improving project efficiency, productivity and resource utilisation.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure NDT activities are carried out as per applicable procedures, standards and customer specifications.
- Support quality reviews, audits and corrective actions wherever required.
- Ensure appropriate handling, maintenance and utilisation of NDT equipment.
Additional Responsibilities.
- Support recent project implementation and technology deployment.
- Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the management from time to time.
Preferred candidate profile
- 510 years of experience in NDT, inspection or related project execution.
- ASNT Level II certification in NDT is required.
- PAUT/UT certification and practical experience will be strongly preferred.
- Candidates from Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Pipeline, EPC and Industrial Inspection backgrounds are preferred.
- Experience in handling or coordinating NDT projects is required/preferred.
- Experience in project planning, execution, manpower coordination and resource management will be preferred.
- Should have experience dealing with customer (government) and multiple stakeholders.
- Should have a good understanding of inspection activities, data interpretation and technical reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required.
- Experience in preparing MIS, project reports, trackers and presentations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Verbal and written communication skills in Hindi, English and a regional language is preferred.
- Should be willing to travel extensively across India.
- Should be flexible to work extended hours whenever project requirements demand.
- Strong ownership and accountability towards project deliverables.
- Should be comfortable working in a field-oriented environment.
- Should be willing to learn new technologies, systems and railway-specific applications.
- Candidates willing to transition from industries like Oil & Gas, etc. to Railway/Metro projects are encouraged to apply.
- Delhi/NCR-based candidates will be preferred.
