Position Summary The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations and ensuring the achievement of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, OEE, OTD, and People objectives. The role requires effective supervision of shop-floor activities, manpower management, process discipline, and continuous improvement to support efficient and timely production output.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in optical fiber cable, patch cord, cable harness, optical connector assembly, , electronics manufacturing, or precision assembly operations will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Supervise day-to-day production activities to ensure smooth and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved in line with the production plan, cycle time, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
- Monitor line performance and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and defined process controls.
- Coordinate effectively with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and Warehouse teams to support seamless production flow.
- Support new product introduction, process changes, and line readiness activities.
Productivity, OEE, and Delivery Performance
- Monitor and improve cycle time, line efficiency, productivity, and manpower utilization.
- Drive improvement in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and labor efficiency.
- Ensure achievement of OTD (On-Time Delivery)
targets through effective execution of the production plan.
- Analyze production losses, downtime, bottlenecks, rejection, and rework, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support line balancing, capacity utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with product quality standards, specifications, and in-process inspection requirements.
- Monitor rejection, rework, and First Pass Yield, and drive defect reduction initiatives.
- Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain required production records, traceability documentation, shift reports, and related manufacturing data.
Safety, EHS, and 5S
- Promote and enforce a strong Safety-First culture on the shop floor.
- Ensure compliance with all EHS requirements and safe working practices.
- Lead and sustain 5S implementation, workplace organization, and housekeeping standards.
- Conduct regular safety observations and ensure closure of identified gaps.
People Management
- Supervise, guide, and develop production operators to ensure discipline, teamwork, and performance.
- Allocate manpower as per production requirements and ensure effective line staffing.
- Provide training and cross-training on process requirements, safety, quality expectations, and SOP compliance.
- Maintain a fair,
respectful, and inclusive work setting.
- Handle day-to-day shop-floor challenges related to manpower, machine issues, quality concerns, and delivery priorities.
Reporting and Systems
- Maintain daily production reports and monitor key manufacturing KPIs.
- Track output, downtime, efficiency, rejection, rework, OEE, and OTD performance.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for reporting and coordination.
- Work with ERP/MES systems where applicable; familiarity with such systems will be an added advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Good understanding of production processes, shop-floor supervision, and manpower handling.
- Knowledge of cycle time, OEE, OTD, productivity, efficiency, line balancing, rejection control, and rework management.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
- Basic knowledge of quality control systems, root cause analysis, CAPA, and problem-solving tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle challenging shop-floor situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Basic computer proficiency with the ability to maintain production reports and performance data.
Language Requirements
- Proficiency in English and Hindi is mandatory.
- Knowledge of Marathi will be an added advantage.
