– Production Manager (Solar PV Module)

Position Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for driving effective and high-quality manufacturing of solar PV modules. The role focuses on achieving production targets, maintaining strict quality standards, optimizing cost per watt, and ensuring smooth plant operations aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Target Achievement

- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly production plans as per dispatch commitments.
- Ensure maximum utilization of plant capacity and manpower.
- Monitor line-wise performance and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.

1. PV Module Manufacturing Operations

- Oversee complete module production processes:

Cell Stringing → Layup → Lamination → Framing → Junction Box Fixing → Testing (EL/Flash)
- Ensure process standardization and strict adherence to SOPs.

1. Productivity & Cost Optimization

- Drive reduction in cost per watt through process improvements.
- Minimize material wastage (cells, EVA, backsheet, glass).
- Improve line efficiency, throughput, and cycle time.

1. Quality Assurance Coordination

- Ensure compliance with BIS, IEC, and ISO standards.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to reduce rejection, rework, and defects.
- Implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and CAPA for continuous improvement.

1. Manpower & Shift Management

- Manage supervisors, operators, and contract manpower.
- Plan shifts, allocate manpower, and track productivity.
- Conduct training programs for skill enhancement and process improvement.

1. Machine & Maintenance Coordination





- Ensure high uptime of critical machines: Stringers, Laminators, EL Testers, Sun Simulators, Framing Machines
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.

1. Inventory & Material Control

- Ensure availability of raw materials without overstocking.
- Coordinate with stores and procurement for uninterrupted material flow.
- Monitor consumption vs BOM and control variances.

1. Safety & Compliance (EHS)

- Ensure strict adherence to plant safety and EHS guidelines.
- Promote safe handling of glass, chemicals, and electrical equipment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks.

1. MIS & Reporting

- Prepare and present:

o Daily Production Reports (DPR) o Rejection & Yield Reports o OEE and Efficiency Reports
- Provide actionable insights and improvement plans to management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Production Target Achievement (%)
- Cost per Watt
- Line Efficiency / OEE
- Machine Downtime
- On-Time Dispatch
- Module Yield & Rejection Rate

Required Qualification:

- B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Electrical / Production
- Certification in Solar / Renewable Energy (preferred)
- Experience  20+ years in manufacturing industry
- Minimum 10–15 years in Solar PV Module Manufacturing preferred

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of PV module manufacturing processes
- Leadership and team management skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen
- ERP knowledge (SAP or equivalent systems)
