Production Merchandiser & Product Development Executive

Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Office
Working Days: Monday to Saturday
Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Salary: ₹20,000 onwards per month, depending on experience and skills
About the Role
Fashion World is looking for a Production Merchandiser & Product Development Executive to join our Design & Production team.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in women’s ethnic wear/apparel manufacturing and should be comfortable handling both product development and day-to-day production coordination.
This is a hands-on role involving new design development, sample development, fabric sourcing, production execution, karigar coordination and vendor follow-ups.
We are looking for someone who can independently take a design from concept → fabric → sample → production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Product Development
* Develop new patterns, designs and styles for women’s ethnic wear.
- Work on new silhouettes, colour combinations, fabrics and design details.
- Convert design ideas/references into practical garments suitable for production.
- Coordinate with the sampling team/karigars to develop new samples.
- Follow up on sample corrections, alterations and final approvals.
- Maintain and organise approved samples and design references.
2. Production Coordination
- Issue production requirements for approved styles.
- Coordinate with tailors, karigars and production teams on a daily basis.
- Explain design, measurements, construction and finishing requirements clearly.
- Follow up on ongoing production and ensure work is completed within timelines.
- Identify production issues and coordinate solutions quickly.
- Track pending work, samples and production status.
3. Fabric Sourcing & Ordering
- Identify and source suitable fabrics according to design requirements.
- Place fabric orders based on production requirements.
- Coordinate with fabric suppliers regarding availability, quantity, quality, colour and delivery.
- Follow up regularly with suppliers to ensure fabrics arrive on time.
- Coordinate with vendors/parties for fabric development and arrivals.
- Ensure required fabrics are available before production starts.
4. Vendor & Karigar Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with karigars, tailors, fabric suppliers and other production vendors.
- Follow up on pending work and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate material movement between vendors and production.
- Resolve day-to-day production and vendor-related issues.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with reliable vendors and karigars.
5. Sample Development
- Coordinate complete sample development from initial idea to final approved sample.
- Follow up on stitching, alterations, embroidery/finishing and corrections wherever required.
- Ensure the final sample matches the intended design, measurements, fabric and finishing.
- Communicate sample corrections accurately to the concerned karigar/vendor.
Candidate Requirements
- 1–4 years of relevant experience in fashion, apparel production, merchandising or product development.
- Experience in women’s ethnic wear / Indian wear manufacturing will be strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of fabrics, garment construction, patterns and stitching.
- Practical experience working with karigars,
tailors, fabric suppliers and production vendors.
- Strong follow-up and coordination skills.
- Good understanding of the complete process from sample development to production.
- Should be organised and comfortable handling multiple styles and tasks simultaneously.
- Should be proactive and capable of solving day-to-day production issues independently.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel / Google Sheets is preferred.
- Fashion Design / Textile Design / Fashion Merchandising diploma or degree is preferred but relevant practical experience will also be considered.

Important
This is not a purely designing role.
The candidate must be comfortable with both design/product development AND production coordination.
Candidates with only graphic designing, social media designing or purely fashion illustration experience will not be suitable for this role.
