Role Purpose The role is dedicated to being part of a high calibre team and responsible for preparing digital artwork files for print production by checking for errors, making necessary corrections, ensuring proper formatting, managing color profiles, creating proofs, and overseeing the technical aspects of the printing process for Flexography, Digital, and Gravure printing technology. Prepress technicians set the foundation for successful printing production for us to serve our customers better.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities:

· Determines prepress requirements by thoroughly reviewing job tickets, studying design, content, and specifications

· Pre-flights supplied files for correctness. Report all discrepancies between job ticket/quote and supplied files to sales coordinators and team head in the format prescribed by the company.

· Process or prepare finished files by trapping, editing, keying, and correcting text and graphic elements; prepares files for appropriate output device.

· Managing color profiles to ensure consistent color reproduction across different printing devices and media.

· Creating digital proofs for client approval, identifying and correcting any errors in layout, text, and image placement.

· Performing thorough quality checks on printed proofs to identify any inconsistencies or defects.

· Troubleshooting technical issues related to printing files, software, and equipment.

· Collaborating with designers, clients, sales coordinators, and production staff to ensure all printing requirements are met.

· Maintains high level of accuracy in daily work including proofing systems.

· Assists in maintaining prepress file organization on the server and follows all protocols for best practices in file handling

· Maintains quality results by following established SOPs and recommending improvements.



Is responsible for reviewing and verifying all work before it leaves the department

Key skills and knowledge required: (i.e. those required to fulfil role, including qualifications):

· A minimum of 4 years’ experience within flexible packaging, offset, and narrow web digital print environment.

· Strong proficiency and expert knowledge of all major packages e.g. Esko, Apogee, GMG, G7 colour management, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Pitstop etc.

· Must have knowledge of printing and packaging terminology and practices

· Thorough understanding of color management and the G7 methodology

· Must be proficient in using the company’s prepress operating platform and demonstrated ability to learn new technology including new/upgraded software and hardware

· Work in a quick-paced environment with tight deadline requirements

· Contribute to a safe working environment and be able to work with others, must be able to follow direction and be self-motivated

· A three-year Diploma or higher degree in a printing technology or graphic design discipline is preferred.

· Neat, clean, and professional manners and appearance

- Other technical skills required (MIS, M365, Google Sheets, Excel, Calendar’s)
