Project Discription: This PhD project focuses on the synthesis and characterization of atomically thin semiconductors, dielectrics, and conductors derived from liquid metals, targeting next-generation optoelectronic and versatile device applications. Two-dimensional (2D) materials, including semiconductors, ferroelectrics, and piezoelectrics, offer the potential to revolutionize electronic devices by drastically reducing energy consumption compared to conventional silicon-based technologies. The project will utilize liquid metal-based printing techniques to produce post-transition metal compounds, particularly gallium, indium, and tin-based materials.

These self-limiting oxide layers, which naturally form on the surface of liquid metals, can be exfoliated into high-performing nano-layers with tunable properties.



The PhD candidate will synthesize and characterize these materials using advanced electron microscopy, optical spectroscopy, and electronic measurements. The project will further integrate these materials into device architectures, employing state-of-the-art lithography techniques, including ion beam, electron beam, and photolithography, to fabricate scalable, high-efficiency electronic and optoelectronic devices.

By exploring charge doping and atomic-scale interactions, this research aims to establish a fundamental understanding of these novel materials, paving the way for their application in printed electronics, sensors, and wearable technologies.

- ME/MTech/MSc in ECE/EEE/VLSI/Material Science/ Nanoscience or other similar specialization
