Position: Optometrist

Location: Mittal Eye Care, Sangrur, Punjab

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting To: Ophthalmologist / Medical Director

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled, responsible, and patient-friendly Optometrist to join our ophthalmology team. The candidate will be responsible for comprehensive eye examinations, refraction, preliminary diagnosis, patient counselling, and assisting the ophthalmologist in routine clinical and diagnostic work.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform comprehensive visual acuity and refraction examinations.
- Perform subjective and objective refraction, including retinoscopy.
- Conduct preliminary assessment of ocular complaints and identify patients requiring ophthalmologist evaluation.
- Perform IOP measurement, keratometry, pachymetry and other routine diagnostic tests as required.
- Assist with OCT, visual field, fundus photography and other ophthalmic investigations, where applicable.
- Perform contact lens assessment and counselling when required.
- Explain spectacle prescriptions and appropriate lens options to patients.
- Counsel patients regarding eye health, spectacle compliance and follow-up.
- Assist the ophthalmologist during patient examination and procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and investigation reports.
- Ensure proper calibration, cleanliness and functioning of optometric equipment.




- Coordinate professionally with reception, technicians and other clinical staff.
- Maintain a high standard of patient care, communication and confidentiality.

Desired Skills
- B.Optom / M.Optom or equivalent qualification.
- Valid registration as applicable.
- Good clinical knowledge and refraction skills.
- Experience in an ophthalmology/eye hospital setting preferred.
- Good communication skills in English, Hindi and Punjabi preferred.
- Friendly, professional and patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
- Basic computer and EMR/data-entry skills.

Working Hours Monday–Saturday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Leaves: 2 paid leaves per month
