Hirely is recruiting on behalf of a hiring partner for a highly skilled Open-Source Software Engineers for an AI training project focused on software development, repository exploration, debugging, system architecture, and code evaluation.

You’ll work with unfamiliar codebases, implement and review software changes, reproduce and fix issues, and evaluate AI-generated code across front-end and back-end systems.

Meaningful open-source ownership or contributions are an important part of this role. Candidates should be able to discuss repositories, pull requests, issues, and code they personally contributed.

What You'll Do

- Explore and understand unfamiliar software repositories
- Implement, modify, and debug front-end and back-end components
- Trace data and execution across APIs, services, libraries, databases, and external dependencies
- Reproduce software issues and identify root causes
- Implement solutions that follow an existing project's architecture and contribution standards
- Write unit, integration, regression, and end-to-end tests
- Review AI-generated patches for correctness, completeness, security, and maintainability
- Work across multiple programming languages and technical environments
- Translate or adapt complete software builds between programming languages when required
- Validate implementations against project requirements and expected behavior

Who We're Looking For

- Public or otherwise verifiable GitHub profile
- Meaningful ownership of or contributions to open-source repositories
- Solid software-engineering experience in front-end, back-end, full-stack, systems, infrastructure, developer tooling, or related areas
- Experience working with multiple programming languages
- Ability to understand,



navigate, and modify unfamiliar codebases
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code-review skills
- Ability to write and validate high-quality tests
- Experience working with established project architectures and contribution standards
- Ability to clearly explain technical decisions and personally authored contributions

Relevant languages include: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, Go, Rust, C++, C#, Ruby, PHP, or other languages used in substantial open-source projects. Compensation & Terms

- $100-$150/hour
- Independent contractor
- Fully remote, global
- Approximately 15 hours/week
- Flexible schedule, including weekends if preferred
