Location: Delhi NCR
Experience: 3–6 years relevant industrial experience
Function: New Product Development / R&D;
Industry: Polymers | Plastics | Specialty Chemicals | Performance Materials
About the Role
We are looking for an industry-experienced NPD / R&D; professional who has successfully taken a polymer/plastics product from concept → laboratory → scale-up → commercial production.
This is an execution-focused product-development role, with an emphasis on translating laboratory work into practical, scalable and commercially viable products.
The candidate should ideally have personally developed, or played a significant technical role in developing, at least one product that has reached commercial production and is currently used in the market.
The exact chemistry is less key than demonstrated ability to develop, scale and commercialize an industrial product.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop polymer/plastics products and formulations from scratch.
- Identify and procure suitable raw materials and understand their functional roles.
- Develop, test and optimize formulations at laboratory scale.
- Benchmark products against commercial alternatives.
- Develop a reproducible manufacturing process along with the formulation.
- Take products through lab → pilot → production → customer validation → commercialization.
- Plan and support pilot and production trials.
- Optimize formulations based on actual manufacturing equipment and constraints.
- Troubleshoot differences between laboratory and plant performance.
- Establish suitable process parameters and operating windows.
- Work closely with production, quality, procurement, sales and customers during commercialization.
- Understand raw-material pricing, availability and price fluctuations.
- Develop products with both technical performance and commercial cost in mind.
Manufacturing Experience
- The candidate should be comfortable working in an industrial production environment.
- Experience with GLR and SSR systems is strongly preferred, including an understanding of charging sequence, agitation, temperature control, heating/cooling, reaction/process time, mixing limitations and scale-up considerations.
- The candidate does not need to operate the production equipment themselves, but should understand how a process runs at industrial scale and how formulations may need to be optimized around actual plant equipment.
- Exposure to mixers, kneaders, extruders, dispersers, mills, dryers or other relevant polymer-processing equipment is an advantage.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Plastics Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant industrial experience in polymer/plastics R&D;, NPD, specialty chemicals, additives, formulations, compounding or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience developing at least one product that reached commercial production is strongly preferred.
- Practical experience with scale-up and manufacturing teams is highly valued.
- Practical industrial experience, hands-on capability and demonstrated execution will be given greater importance than the pedigree of the degree or institution.
Relevant Product Experience Experience may be in any commercially used polymer/plastics chemistry, including:
Polymer additives | Antioxidants | UV stabilizers | Waxes | Metal stearates | Lubricants | Processing aids | Masterbatches | Compounds | Plasticizers | Polymer modifiers | Compatibilizers | Specialty resins | Coatings | Adhesives | Performance chemicals
Experience with the exact chemistry is not mandatory if the candidate has demonstrated strong product-development and scale-up capability.
Experience We Value
Priority will be given to candidates who have had the opportunity to work on products beyond the laboratory stage and have exposure to pilot trials, production scale-up and commercial application.
Candidates with primarily academic or laboratory-based experience are welcome to apply where they can demonstrate meaningful industrial exposure and the ability to translate their work into practical manufacturing applications.
