Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled NDT Technician with experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, fabrication, or heavy engineering to carry out non-destructive testing and inspection of welds, structures, piping, and other components. The candidate should be familiar with NDT procedures, inspection standards, safety requirements, and preparation of accurate inspection reports.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform NDT inspections as per approved procedures, inspection plans, drawings, and applicable standards.

- Carry out UT, DPT, MPT and/or RT depending on qualification and project requirements.

- Inspect welds, plates, pipes, structural members, pressure components, and repaired areas.

- Identify and evaluate weld discontinuities, defects, cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, undercut, etc.

- Verify inspection areas and test locations as per approved drawings and inspection requirements.

- Calibrate and perform routine checks of NDT equipment before use.

- Record inspection results accurately and prepare NDT reports.

- Maintain proper documentation, inspection records, test reports, and traceability.

- Coordinate with QA/QC, Welding, Production, and Project teams for inspection activities.

- Conduct re-inspection of repaired/reworked areas and verify compliance.

- Ensure NDT activities are carried out in accordance with applicable class, client, statutory, and project requirements.

- Maintain NDT equipment, accessories, consumables, and calibration records.

- Follow all applicable HSE and radiation-safety requirements, particularly during RT activities.

- Support client/class surveyors during inspection and testing.





- Report inspection findings and non-conformities to the concerned QA/QC Engineer or NDT Level II/III personnel.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma / ITI / Technical qualification in Mechanical, Welding, NDT, or a related field.

- Valid certification in relevant NDT methods such as:

- UT – Ultrasonic Testing

- MT/MPI – Magnetic Particle Testing

- PT/DPT – Dye Penetrant Testing

- RT – Radiographic Testing, if applicable

- Certification as per relevant ASNT / ISO 9712 / PCN or equivalent requirements will be preferred.

- Practical experience in shipyard, ship repair, marine, fabrication, or heavy engineering is preferred.

Technical Skills

- Good knowledge of weld inspection and NDT techniques.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, inspection procedures, and specifications.

- Knowledge of relevant ASME, ASTM, AWS, ISO and classification society requirements.

- Familiarity with acceptance criteria for weld and material defects.

- Ability to prepare clear and accurate NDT reports.

- Basic computer knowledge for documentation and reporting.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
