Job Purpose To assess and manage patients requiring general surgical and diabetic-foot interventions, perform surgeries safely, provide appropriate postoperative care, and work with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best clinical outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Examine patients, establish diagnoses, and prepare appropriate treatment plans.
- Manage diabetic foot infections, abscesses, ulcers, gangrene, and other surgical conditions.
- Perform procedures such as wound debridement, incision and drainage, nail surgery, minor amputations, and other general surgeries within the approved scope.
- Conduct preoperative assessment and obtain informed consent from patients or attendants.
- Review investigations and coordinate with physicians, anaesthetists, vascular surgeons, podiatrists, and other specialists.
- Provide postoperative monitoring, wound reviews, discharge advice, and follow-up care.
- Attend surgical emergencies and provide timely clinical decisions.
- Maintain complete and accurate case sheets, operative notes, prescriptions, consent forms, and discharge summaries.
- Follow hospital infection-control, biomedical-waste, patient-safety, medication, and surgical-safety protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits,



case discussions, morbidity reviews, and quality-improvement activities.
- Counsel patients and their families regarding the diagnosis, proposed surgery, possible risks, expected outcomes, and preventive care.
- Guide junior doctors, nurses, and wound-care staff when required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow ethical and professional standards.
- Support hospital outreach camps, awareness programmes, and academic activities when assigned.
- Remain available for emergency consultation or on-call duty according to the approved schedule.

Qualification and Experience
- MBBS with MS in General Surgery from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the Travancore-Cochin Medical Council or Kerala State Medical Council, as applicable.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant surgical experience preferred.
- Experience in diabetic-foot surgery, wound management, limb salvage, or vascular-related cases will be an advantage.
- Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
