Role Description The Medical Coder I role is a full-time, on-site position based in Coimbatore.

The Medical

Coder I will review clinical documentation and assign accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services in accordance with applicable coding guidelines and payer requirements. Daily responsibilities include validating codes for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with regulatory and client-specific standards, and identifying potential documentation improvement opportunities. The role involves working with internal teams to clarify clinical information, support billing and audit processes,



and meet productivity and quality targets.

The Medical

Coder I will also participate in ongoing training to stay current with coding updates and industry changes.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS) and basic understanding of healthcare billing processes.
- Ability to interpret clinical documentation, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology to ensure accurate code assignment.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to maintain high accuracy in a data-intensive workplace.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Comfort working with electronic health records (EHRs), coding software, and standard productivity tools (e.g., Excel, coding platforms).
- Relevant certification such as CPC, CCS, or equivalent, or progress toward such certification is preferred.
- Diploma or degree in a health sciences, medical coding, or related field is desirable; entry-level candidates with appropriate training may be considered.
- Willingness to work on-site in Coimbatore and to participate in continuous learning and performance improvement initiatives.
