About Oracle Group

Established in 2000, Oracle Group is a food packaging manufacturer specialising in thermoforming and sheet extrusion, operating six manufacturing units across the Silvassa and Dadra & Nagar Haveli region with a team of around 800 people. We manufacture to international food safety standards and hold BRCGS certification.

We are not looking for someone to hold the plant together. We are looking for someone to build a maintenance system that measurably outperforms where we are today.

Role purpose The core purpose of this role is to improve the maintenance performance of both units, measured by KPIs.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for taking MTTR, MTBF, unplanned downtime, PM adherence and maintenance cost from their current level to an agreed higher level, and sustaining it. Keeping the plant running is the baseline expectation; demonstrable, measured improvement year on year is the job.

Everything else in this role — preventive maintenance, breakdown response, root cause analysis, team leadership,

spares and vendor management, reporting — is a means to that end. The role will be judged on the movement in the numbers, not on activity.

Performance measures

Primary accountability: improvement of the following metrics against an agreed baseline.

- MTTR — reduce mean time to repair
- MTBF — increase mean time between failures
- Reduce unplanned downtime as a percentage of planned production hours
- Increase preventive maintenance schedule adherence
- Eliminate repeat failures — close root cause analyses and remove chronic problems permanently
- Improve critical spares availability
- Reduce maintenance cost per unit of production
- Zero safety and BRCGS non-conformances in maintenance scope

Baselines are established on joining. Improvement targets are set with management for each review period, and performance against them is reviewed monthly and assessed annually< /em>.

Asset scope

Key responsibilities

Preventive and planned maintenance

1. Own and run the preventive maintenance schedule for all assets across both units, and ensure adherence.

- Maintain asset registers, machine history cards and mould condition and repair records — current, complete and audit-ready.
- Plan and execute shutdown and annual maintenance within agreed windows.
- Move the department from breakdown-led to plan-led maintenance.

Breakdown response and failure elimination

- Ensure quick, safe breakdown response across all shifts and restore production to standard.
- Carry out documented Root Cause Analysis on major and repeat breakdowns using a structured method, and close corrective actions with owners and dates.
- Maintain a chronic-problem register — the recurring failures across both units, each with an owner, an action plan and a target elimination date.

Team leadership

- Plan shift rosters and deploy manpower across both units to give required coverage.
- Assign daily work, review the quality and completion of work done, and hold the team to standards.
- Build technician capability through a skill matrix and training plan; reduce single-person dependency on critical assets.
- Run a daily maintenance review and attend the plant production meeting with data in hand.

Spares, vendors and cost

- Own spares inventory — critical spares list, reorder levels, stock accuracy, and control of slow-moving and dead stock.

Reporting and data

- Maintain and report the department’s performance numbers — MTTR, MTBF, unplanned downtime, PM adherence, maintenance cost and spares position — accurately and on schedule, without reminders.
- Ensure data is captured at source by the team and entered the same day.




- Analyse trends and present monthly to management with findings and proposed actions.
- Support the ERP maintenance module rollout and maintain its master data.

Safety, food safety and compliance

- Enforce permit-to-work, LOTO, work-at-height, hot work and confined-space procedures for all maintenance activity.
- Meet BRCGS maintenance requirements — glass and brittle-plastic control, food-grade lubricants in product-contact areas, hygienic engineering standards for repairs and modifications, control and removal of temporary repairs, and documented post-maintenance line release before production restart.
- Maintain statutory electrical and equipment compliance under the Factories Act and applicable local regulations, with audit-ready records.
- Face customer, certification and statutory audits on maintenance scope.

Candidate requirements

Essential

Diploma or BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering

10–12 years in plant maintenance, including 3–4 years as Assistant Manager or Manager leading a maintenance team

Plastics processing experience — thermoforming, extrusion, injection moulding or similar

Demonstrated record of measurably improving maintenance KPIs in their own plant — able to state the actual before-and-after numbers for MTTR, MTBF, downtime and PM adherence, what they changed to achieve it, and over what period. Candidates who have monitored and reported these numbers without improving them do not meet this requirement.

Working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical maintenance, able to direct and assess both trades

Mould and tooling maintenance experience

Utilities experience — chillers, compressors, DG sets, HT/LT

Computer literate; Excel to the level of building and maintaining a maintenance dashboard; experience with a

CMMS or ERP maintenance module

English sufficient to correspond with OEMs and suppliers; Hindi or Gujarati for the shop floor

Desirable

Food-contact or FMCG manufacturing background; BRCGS, FSSC 22000 or ISO 22000 exposure

Experience across more than one production unit

TPM, RCM or Six Sigma training

Experience implementing a CMMS or ERP maintenance module
