Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to support the legal department of Conde Nast India market, which includes the Indian business and shared service centres.
The role holder will report to the Legal Director, India. The role holder will be the first point of contact for company secretary, corporate and commercial legal matters arising in India.
What will you be doing:
- Ensuring regulatory compliance with the Companies Act, related corporate laws, and sector specific laws including Press and Periodicals laws.
- Preparing records for board meetings, annual general meetings and general meetings.
- Liaising with outside counsel to support corporate compliance workstreams in a cost effective manner.
- Preparing documents and statutory returns required under the Companies Act and coordinating with global counterparts on shareholder and director level compliance.
- Updating and maintaining statutory books and registers.
- Partnering with the finance team on internal and statutory audits.
- Monitoring regulatory compliance across business operations.
- Drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.
- Managing legal documentation for flagship events including memorandum of understandings, NDAs, master service agreements, sponsorships, talent, branded content, venue agreements, barter deals and vendor contracts.
- Creating and updating legal templates to optimize processes and support evolving business requirements.
- Collaborating with the internal teams to implement and streamline practices, and support rollout of recent systems, including AI systems.
- Supporting the Legal Director with business queries on copyright, ASCI guidelines, advertising, labour law reforms and data protection. In depth knowledge of these areas is not required.
Qualifications:
- LLB degree from a recognised university.
- Qualified Company Secretary.
- Minimum 2 years PQE, preferably in the media industry.
- Hands-on experience with managing corporate secretarial work, statutory compliance and commercial agreements.
- Fluent English speaker.
