About the Hospital

SVKM’s Tapanbhai Mukeshbhai Patel Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art multi-specialty tertiary care institution and a flagship healthcare initiative of Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) - one of India’s most respected educational and social trusts, home to institutions such as NMIMS University. Purpose-built to bring metro-standard clinical excellence to North Maharashtra, the hospital serves patients through advanced diagnostics, specialist care, and a culture of clinical rigor.

We are building a healthcare institution where discipline, warmth, and precision coexist and we are looking for Lab In-Charge (Pathology) who can bring that same standard to our hospital.

Job Summary The Lab In-Charge will manage the overall functioning of the hospital's pathology/diagnostic laboratory, ensuring timely and accurate test results, adherence to medical and safety protocols, and productive coordination between lab staff, clinicians, and patients.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise daily operations of the laboratory including biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, and pathology sections
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
- Oversee sample collection, labelling, storage, and transportation as per protocol
- Ensure compliance with NABH and NABL standards and other statutory/regulatory requirements
- Supervise, train, and schedule lab technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff
- Review test reports for accuracy before release to doctors/patients
- Maintain and calibrate lab equipment (analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, etc.) and coordinate AMC/servicing
- Manage inventory of reagents, kits, and consumables; ensure no stock-outs of critical items
- Implement infection control, biohazard disposal, and biomedical waste management protocols
- Handle critical/emergency test requests promptly,



especially for ICU, OT, and emergency patients
- Coordinate with doctors and clinical staff regarding test results and discrepancies
- Maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity per hospital policy
- Prepare and maintain records: daily test logs, QC charts, equipment maintenance logs
- Ensure lab readiness for internal/external audits (NABL, NABH)
- Handle patient queries and complaints related to lab services professionally

Required Skills & Qualifications

- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Medical Lab Technology (MLT), Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field (DMLT/BMLT may be considered depending on hospital experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a hospital, diagnostic lab, NABL-accredited laboratory, supervisory exposure preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical lab procedures, equipment, and safety standards
- In depth knowledge of NABL and NABH accreditation processes
- Knowledge of Hospital Information System (HIS)/Lab Information System (LIS)
- Good leadership, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during emergencies
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

- Certification in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Experience in medical college laboratory

Work Environment

- Hospital laboratory setting; exposure to biological samples and hazardous materials
- Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as per hospital requirements
- Emergency on-call availability may be required
