Role & responsibilities

Setup, maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment (e.g., spectrophotometer, flame photometer, pH meter, air/water/soil monitoring equipment etc.).

Maintain inventories of chemicals, glassware, and consumables.

Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliancewith environmental regulations.

Implement safety protocols in accordance with institutional and governmental guidelines (e.g., MSDS, waste disposal).

Conduct regular safety drills, inspections, and risk assessments.

Maintain accurate records of lab usage, equipment, materials issued, and equipment.

Maintain records related to hazardous materials and environmental compliance.

Assist faculty and students with lab-based coursework, experiments, and fieldwork, and support ongoing research by preparing samples, conducting tests, and recording data.

Train and supervise undergraduate or graduate student assistants.

Ensure proper documentation including protocols development of all lab procedures,experiments and results.

Monitor lab quality assurance processes and participate in audits.





Coordinate repairs and annual maintenance service contracts for laboratory equipment.

Assist with the procurement of chemicals, lab materials, equipment, and software required for teaching and research activities.

Preferred candidate profile

Masters degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Essential).

2–5 years of prior experience in Environmental Science laboratory, research setting,or technical support role is essential (Essential).

Robust understanding of environmental sampling, analytical techniques, and lab safety standards (Essential).

Experience with field monitoring equipment (e.g., water/air quality sensors, GPS etc.)(Essential)

Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS) and lab software (Desirable).

Familiarity with ISO or other lab accreditation standards (Desirable).

Background in supervising students or working in academic settings (Desirable)
