Job Purpose The Safety Assistant Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining safety standards within the manufacturing plant. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, preventing workplace accidents, improving safety awareness among employees, and supporting the organization in achieving zero harm and a safe working workplace.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Safety Policy Implementation

- Implement company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines across all plant operations.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards in production, maintenance, warehouse, and utility areas.
- Support management in developing safety objectives and improvement plans.

1. Statutory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, including Factory Safety Rules and Industrial Safety Regulations.
- Maintain statutory registers, licenses, and documentation related to safety.
- Coordinate with government authorities during safety inspections and audits.

1. Hazard Identification & Risk Management

- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) across plant operations.
- Implement risk mitigation measures and monitor their effectiveness.
- Carry out Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for critical activities.

1. Safety Audits & Inspections

- Conduct periodic safety audits, plant inspections, and workplace assessments.
- Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor implementation of safety recommendations.

1. Accident Investigation & Prevention

- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss cases.




- Perform Root Cause Analysis and develop preventive measures.
- Maintain accident records and analyze safety data for improvement.

1. Training & Safety Awareness

- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.
- Organize safety training, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns.
- Promote employee participation in safety initiatives and programs.

1. Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety

- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for fire, accidents, and natural disasters.
- Conduct periodic emergency evacuation drills and mock drills.
- Ensure proper functioning of firefighting equipment, alarm systems, and emergency exits.

1. Contractor Safety Management

- Ensure contractors follow plant safety rules and procedures.
- Conduct contractor safety inductions and monitor their compliance.
- Supervise high-risk activities such as hot work, work at height, confined space entry, and lifting operations.

1. Safety Monitoring & Reporting

- Monitor safety performance indicators and prepare safety reports.
- Present monthly safety performance reports to management.
- Track implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

1. Continuous Safety Improvement

- Implement safety improvement initiatives and best practices.
- Encourage employee participation in safety suggestion programs.
- Work towards achieving Zero Accident / Zero Harm workplace culture.
