Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure &
- Server Management:
Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers (Windows/Linux/VMware). Oversee system back-ups, data recovery, and hardware upgrades.
- Network &
- Security Administration:
Monitor enterprise networks (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi-Fi), enforce firewall rules, manage Active Directory/Entra ID, and implement cybersecurity protocols to protect campus data.
- Academic Systems Support: Support integration and operations for core campus tools like Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle), Student Information Systems (SIS), and cloud suites (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace).
- Identity &
- Access Management:
Administer single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and role-based access control for onboarding/offboarding personnel and students.
- Troubleshooting &
- Technical Support:
Serve as Tier 2/3 escalation for campus IT issues. Resolve complex technical incidents across campus departments and computer labs.
- Compliance &
- Policy:
Ensure systems comply with educational and privacy regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS). Assist with disaster recovery planning and security audits.
Qualifications &
- Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 35 years of hands-on experience in system administration, ideally within a higher education or enterprise environment.
- Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Systems Administrator, VMware VCP, or CCNA.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), and VMware vSphere.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and PowerShell scripting.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and network infrastructure (Cisco, Aruba).
- Experience with campus-wide software deployments and endpoint management tools (SCCM, Intune, Jamf).
Soft Skills
- Robust communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders across campus.
- Ability to work flexibly during planned maintenance windows or emergency network outages.
