Job Title Intern – Operations Excellence

Department: Operations Excellence

Reporting To: Head – Operations Excellence / Industrial Engineering

Internship Duration: 6 Months

Role Objective To support the Operations Excellence team in driving productivity improvement, mechanization, automation, layout optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to Industrial Engineering tools, Lean Manufacturing principles, and project execution while contributing to operational excellence projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Process Improvement & Industrial Engineering

- Assist in conducting time studies, work studies, and motion studies.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and eliminating Non-Value Added (NVA) activities.

Key Deliverables
- Process improvement opportunities identified
- Improved process flow and standardized work practices

2. Mechanization & Automation Projects
- Support execution of mechanization and automation projects across operations.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors during project implementation.
- Assist in machine trials, validation, documentation, and performance tracking.
- Monitor project timelines and maintain implementation trackers.

3. Layout Planning & Workflow Optimization
- Assist in preparing and updating shop-floor layouts using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
- Support workstation redesign to improve ergonomics and material flow.




- Participate in layout optimization activities for improved productivity and space utilization.
- Assist in material flow analysis and workstation balancing.

4. Productivity & Capacity Improvement
- Collect and analyze production data.
- Prepare productivity reports and dashboards.
- Support capacity calculations and manpower utilization studies.
- Participate in bottleneck identification and capacity enhancement initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education

- Final Year or Pre-final Year B.E./B.Tech or pursuing Master's in:
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Textile Engineering
- Industrial & Production Engineering

Preferred Skills

- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering concepts
- Knowledge of Time Study, Motion Study, Line Balancing, and Process Mapping
- AutoCAD (preferred)
- Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
- Power BI (preferred)
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
- Proactive learning attitude
