Director – Human Resources - KL University KL University is looking for a Director of Human Resources to lead the people strategy for a large, complex academic institution — This is a role for an experienced HR leader who understands that a university isn't a typical enterprise: faculty, researchers, and administrative staff all have distinct needs, and regulatory bodies like UGC/AICTE.

Qualifications

- MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent (a Ph.D. is a plus, not a requirement)
- 20+ years in HR, with 15+ years in senior leadership Mandatory
- Experience in higher education, research institutions, or large complex organizations — strongly preferred
- Solid grasp of UGC regulations, faculty recruitment norms, and academic HR practice
- A track record of actually driving organizational change, not just managing it

Strategic HR Leadership

- Design and execute the university's HR strategy in line with its academic mission and growth plans
- Advise the Vice Chancellor/Registrar and senior leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy
- Lead HR digital transformation initiatives (HRMS, analytics, self-service systems)

Talent Acquisition & Management





- Oversee end-to-end recruitment for faculty, research staff, and administrative personnel
- Build talent pipelines for critical academic and leadership roles
- Drive succession planning and leadership development programs

Performance & Talent Development

- Design and implement performance management systems (including faculty appraisal frameworks)
- Oversee learning & development, training calendars, and career progression pathways
- Champion a culture of continuous feedback and qualified growth

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

- Design competitive, equitable compensation structures for faculty and staff
- Ensure compliance with UGC/AICTE norms, state labor laws, and university statutes
- Oversee payroll governance, benefits administration, and audit readiness

Employee Relations & Engagement

- Foster a positive, inclusive campus culture; lead engagement surveys and action planning
- Manage grievance redressal, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution
- Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

HR Operations & Governance

- Lead HR policy formulation and periodic review in line with regulatory changes
- Oversee HR budgeting, headcount planning, and cost optimization
- Build and mentor a high-performing HR team across sub-functions (recruitment, L&D;, ER, compensation, HRIS)
