Smart IMS is hiring for a Senior DevOps Engineer position for one of our clients, a leading product-based organization that is establishing its Global Capability Center (GCC) in India.
The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work either remotely or from the client's office in Noida, based on business requirements.

Purpose
DevOps engineer focused on reliable cloud foundations and delivery pipelines across AWS and/or Azure. Automate build, test, and deploy with shift-left security, IAM and cost guardrails, operate containerized workloads on Kubernetes (AKS), and partner directly with application teams on cloud and enterprise deployments.
The Team In this role, the candidate would report to the Director SRE and work with other engineering Directors and Engineers
Working hours
This is a fully remote role. Designers must be available for recurring meetings and some real-time collaboration aligned with standard U.S. Mountain Standard Time (Phoenix, AZ) business hours. Working hours would be between 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM IST. Some flexibility is expected to ensure consistent overlaps with the core working hours of the Product and Engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve cloud foundations for reliability, security, and scale on AWS and/or Azure.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows with standardized builds, tests, quality gates, and safe deployment strategies.
- Implement infrastructure as code, creating reusable modules and scripts for provisioning and configuration.
- Automate common operations and developer workflows with scripting and command-line tooling.
- Package, deploy,
and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes (AKS); guide teams on manifests/Helm patterns, ingress and service networking, and environment promotion; troubleshoot running workloads day to day with kubectl.
- Embed shift-left/DevSecOps practices (static/dependency analysis, policy checks, testing) in delivery.
- Enforce security, IAM least privilege, and cost guardrails in pipelines; surface issues early with actionable feedback.
- Establish practical monitoring and observability (metrics, logs, alerts) aligned to service health.
- Support basic cloud security practices, including posture management (CSPM), vulnerability scanning, and familiarity with native security services (Microsoft Defender for Cloud).

Required Technical Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years overall experience
- ~6+ years in DevOps/SRE/platform engineering.
- Strong foundation in Azure (compute, networking, identity, storage, containers).
- Current, hands-on working knowledge of Kubernetes is essential for this role. Solid grasp of the fundamentals: core objects (pods, deployments, services, ConfigMaps/Secrets, namespaces, RBAC), Kubernetes networking (Services, cluster DNS, network policies), ingress controllers and TLS, and day-to-day kubectl operations and troubleshooting; practical experience across the ecosystem (registries, Helm, autoscaling), including AKS or EKS.
- Solid scripting in Bash and PowerShell; working knowledge of Azure CLI.
- Basic programming in Python or Java for tools and integrations.
- Demonstrated CI/CD experience with one or more of Jenkins, Harness, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Proficiency with Git, including effective branching and merging strategies and pull-requestbased workflows.
- Strong experience building Terraform modules/scripts for resources in Azure.
- Experience integrating SCM, code quality, coverage, and automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing shift-left/DevSecOps, IAM least-privilege reviews, and automated cost checks within pipelines.
- Valuable understanding of monitoring/observability; experience with APM such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Datadog, or similar.
- Familiarity with agile delivery, including Jira boards and Scrum/Kanban workflows.
- Demonstrated learning mindset with strong accountability and ownership; solid troubleshooting and ability to manage multiple priorities.
