Purpose/Objective The Packing Incharge oversees the entire cement packaging process, ensuring effective operations, high-quality packaging, and timely delivery of products.
This role is responsible for managing both bagged and bulk packaging operations, optimizing packaging efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
The Packing Incharge also leads the packaging team, driving continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Overall Packaging Operations Management: Oversee the management of both bagged and bulk cement packaging operations, ensuring that all equipment is running efficiently and that production targets are consistently met.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize packaging efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize waste in the packaging process.
Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure that all cement packaging meets the required specifications, including weight accuracy, bag integrity, and labeling standards.
Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions for any quality issues that arise during packaging.
Coordination with Production and Logistics: Work closely with the production team to ensure that cement production aligns with packaging capacity, preventing bottlenecks and ensuring smooth operations.
Coordinate with the logistics team to schedule dispatches and ensure that packed cement is delivered on time and according to customer specifications.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead the packaging team, including both shift executives and packaging operators, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their performance.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the packaging department.
Maintenance and Equipment Optimization: Oversee the maintenance of all packaging machinery, ensuring that equipment is serviced regularly and that any issues are promptly addressed to prevent downtime.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules and work with the maintenance team to optimize the performance and lifespan of packaging equipment.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all packaging operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in the handling and storage of cement and packaging materials.
Conduct regular safety audits and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) among the packaging team.
Internal Controls and Fraud Prevention: Implement robust internal controls to prevent operational inefficiencies, theft, and fraud within the packaging department.
Ensure that all packaging activities are transparent, accurately documented, and regularly audited to maintain operational integrity.
Ethics, Integrity, and Governance: Uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity in all packaging operations, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
Foster a culture of ethical behavior and accountability within the packaging team, addressing any violations promptly.
Cost Management and Budget Adherence: Monitor and control the costs associated with the packaging process, ensuring that all activities remain within the allocated budget.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, such as optimizing material usage or improving process efficiency, and implement these measures to enhance financial performance.
Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present detailed reports on packaging performance, including key metrics such as output, efficiency, and quality, to senior management.
Maintain open communication with other departments to ensure that packaging operations are aligned with overall plant objectives and customer requirements.

Qualifications and Experience
Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Work Experience: 10+ years of experience in packaging operations within the cement or related industries, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of packaging operations for both bagged and bulk cement, including equipment maintenance and logistics coordination.
Proficient in quality assurance, SHE compliance, and internal controls.
