About The Role:

SGEW India is seeking a Head of Tool Room to lead our complete Tool Room operations. In this role, you will lead development and management of press tools, dies, jigs & fixtures that drive our high-quality, cost-effective automotive components.You will lead projects from concept to execution, ensuring tools meet functional needs, are manufacturable, cost-effective, and deliver zero-defect production.

Your leadership will directly impact production uptime, tool life, and growth of our engineering capabilities.

What You Will Do :

- Lead the complete Tool Room operations, including tool design, manufacturing, maintenance, modification, and troubleshooting.
- Manage development and maintenance of press tools, progressive dies, compound dies, draw dies, fixtures, gauges, and jigs for sheet-metal and bearing cage components.
- Plan tool development activities according to NPD and production requirements and ensure tools are developed within agreed Cost, Quality & Delivery targets.
- Review tool designs for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and production efficiency.
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchase,



and NPD teams for smooth project execution.
- Establish preventive-maintenance systems (TPM) for dies and tooling to minimize production downtime.
- Analyze recurring tool failures and lead root-cause analysis (RCA), DFMEA & implement corrective actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and improve Tool Room KPIs: Tool development lead time, Tool breakdown frequency, Tool life, Maintenance cost, Rejection/rework due to tooling, On-time tool delivery.
- Manage manpower, machine capacity (CNC/VMC/Wire EDM/EDM/Grinding), tooling vendors, and departmental budgets. Develop and mentor tool designers, tool makers, and operators.

1. Drive improvements in tool life, cycle time, productivity, and manufacturing cost while ensuring compliance with 5S, safety, and IATF quality systems.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications):

- Minimum 12+ years of experience in Tool Room / Press Tooling with at least 3-4 years as a Team Leader / Manager in Sheet Metal / Automotive / Bearing Industry.
- Strong expertise in Progressive dies, Sheet-metal forming (bending, piercing, blanking, drawing) and Press Tool manufacturing.
- In-depth knowledge of Die materials, Heat treatment, Surface treatment and Tool tryout & troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with CNC/VMC, Wire EDM, EDM, Grinding, Milling and conventional machining.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings with GD&T; and using CAD software - AutoCAD / SolidWorks / CATIA.
- Solid knowledge of Tool-room planning, costing, TPM, 5S, Kaizen, Vendor Development and IATF 16949 processes.

What Will Put You Ahead:

- Experience in managing Tool Room for Bearing Cages / Dust Shields / High-precision stamping components.
- Experience in SPM / Jigs & Fixtures design and In-house vs Outsource tooling strategy.
- Proven track record of reducing tool breakdown, improving tool life and leading a team of 20+ technicians & engineers.
