Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the Operations Head will lead and take full ownership of the organisation's backend and on-ground operations across existing destinations, while driving the exploration and set-up of operations for new destinations as the business expands. The incumbent will lead the backend team directly, hold end-to-end accountability for delivery, and ensure every Yatri's journey is executed with the highest standards of safety, reliability, and spiritual fulfilment at Trip to Temples, and the highest standards of travel satisfaction for travellers at Plan My Package.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Destination & Product Knowledge

- Hold command-level knowledge of all existing operating destinations and pilgrimage circuits — route feasibility, darshan timings, permit requirements, local customs, and seasonal considerations.
- Lead the exploration, evaluation, and operational set-up of new destinations and routes, including on-ground assessment, permissions, and readiness before launch.
- Own the destination feasibility assessment and evaluation process end-to-end, and present clear, data-backed recommendations to the Chief of Staff for final approval; guide Sales and Marketing on what is deliverable, at what standard, and at what cost.

2. Backend & On-Ground Operations Leadership





- Lead and directly manage backend operations for all existing destinations — bookings, vendor coordination, documentation, and ticketing — with full accountability for delivery quality.
- Personally lead the set-up of on-ground operations for current destinations: identifying local requirements, establishing processes, and getting operations running end-to-end.
- Institutionalise and enforce SOPs across all destinations, existing and new, so delivery is consistent and audit-ready.
- Lead capacity planning and resource deployment across concurrent operations, seasonal surges, and new launches.
- Own operational KPIs — on-time performance, incident rate, cost efficiency, resource utilisation — and drive the team to hit them.

3. Vendor & Partner Management• Lead the vendor ecosystem for existing destinations — transport, accommodation, guides, darshan/pooja providers ensuring performance, quality, and reliability.

- Personally scout, evaluate, and onboard vendors and ground partners when entering new destinations.
- Lead rate negotiation and contracting; hold vendors accountable to SLAs through regular reviews.
- Resolve escalations and service failures directly, ensuring no disruption to the Yatri experience.

4. Billing, Vendor Payments & Financial Coordination

- Own and lead timely, accurate processing of vendor advances and settlements across all destinations.
- Drive reconciliation with Finance, resolving discrepancies and closing payment cycles without delay.
- Maintain full documentation and audit trails; lead cost-per-head monitoring and flag variances proactively.

5. B2B Agent & Channel Partner Relations

- Lead relationships with B2B travel agents and channel partners, acting as the senior point of operational accountability.
- Drive resolution of partner escalations personally where needed to protect the relationship.
- Lead onboarding of new B2B partners in new source markets and destinations as they come online.

6. Team Leadership building capability.

- Lead,



mentor, and directly manage the backend operations team — setting direction, reviewing performance, and
- Take ownership of team output; be the point of accountability for backend and on-ground delivery to the Chief of Staff
- Build bench strength so the team can scale into new destinations without loss of quality.
- Drive close coordination with Sales, Finance, and Technology to keep operations launch-ready for expansion.

Qualifications & Experience

- Graduate degree in Travel/Tourism Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline; MBA or Post-Graduate qualification preferred.
- Minimum 8–12 years of progressive experience in travel operations, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end delivery.
- Proven experience managing vendor ecosystems and leading backend operations teams.
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound working knowledge of billing cycles, vendor reconciliation, and payment governance.

Preferred Experience

- Prior exposure to pilgrimage, religious, or cultural experience travel is strongly preferred.
- Experience in high-growth or scaling travel organisations navigating operational complexity.
- Hands-on familiarity with booking platforms, CRM systems, and operations management tools.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks including tourism licensing, permits, and safety standards.
- Willingness to travel to destinations for site visits, vendor audits, and peak-season oversight.
