JD for Head of Operations – Order Execution - T&M; Vertical

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Head of Operations - Order Execution (T&M; vertical) to lead and streamline end-to-end post-order execution and production planning for our electrical testing and measuring instruments vertical. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the order lifecycle: translating sales forecasts into robust production plans, driving shop-floor execution through site commissioning, and ensuring the realization of monthly and annual billing targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Revenue Target Achievement

- Sales Forecast Integration: Translate periodic sales forecasts into actionable Master Production Schedules (MPS) / Production Release.
- Billing Target Ownership: Take primary responsibility for meeting and exceeding monthly and annual billing and revenue targets by ensuring smooth production / order execution flow and timely dispatches.
- Capacity & Resource Optimization: Manage production capacity, raw material availability, and resource allocation to prevent bottlenecks and balance shop-floor loads.

2. End-to-End Order Execution & Dispatch

- Order Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee the complete post-order workflow from purchase order (PO) review to final handover.
- Commercial Compliances: Ensure all required commercial compliances as per PO terms including BGs. Liaise with banks for BGs, LCs etc.
- ERP Tracking: Leverage ERP tools to monitor material status, work-in-progress (WIP), delivery schedules, billing & recovery
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with outsourced vendors for optimal delivery schedules for project business.
- Quality & Inspections:



Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), third-party inspections (TPI), and client pre-dispatch approvals without operational delays.

3. Customer / Utility & Export Management

- Customer / Utility Liaison: Serve as the central operational point of contact for Utility (Central, State) & non- Utility customers.
- Export Operations: Oversee end-to-end export documentation (SOP, maker-checker matrix, escalation framework) shipping logistics, customs compliance, BG & Letter of Credit (LC) requirements. For export orders originating from other verticals (OrxaGrid, ISSPL) coordinate with that vertical’s export resource on documentation-standard alignment, without taking on execution ownership of their orders.
- Site Commissioning & Handover: Manage field commissioning engineers to timely complete site commissioning & product acceptance by customers.

4. Cross-Functional Leadership & Commercial Support

- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow an operational team covering production planning, PO compliances, dispatch, field commissioning, and project coordination (minimum 5 years leadership required). The team must be adequately staffed so that operational execution does not depend on the incumbent personally handling day-to-day firefighting.
- Payment Recovery: Partner with the sales team to secure despatch clearances, operational completion / taking over certificates and milestone payment recoveries.
- Inter-departmental Alignment:



Work closely with Sales, BD, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams to align customer expectations with manufacturing timelines.
- Leadership Development: Participate in senior strategic reviews (e.g. MRM, OBSR) and gain exposure to pricing, contract, and budget decisions as part of preparation for broader P&L; leadership.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: Graduate in Engineering or any science/business discipline; an MBA in Operations, Supply Chain, or General Management is highly preferred .
- Experience: 10 to 15+ years of relevant experience in operational leadership, production planning, or order execution preferably within the electrical equipment, Test & Measurement (T&M;), or power sector industry. Sound commercial knowledge of handling billing, managing execution of POs from government departments needed.
- Leadership Track Record: At least 5 years of direct team leadership experience , with proven capability in driving cross-functional operations.
- ERP Exposure: Direct hands-on experience using ERP platforms like SAP for production planning, inventory tracking & billing.
- Utility & Industry Exposure: Prior experience dealing with central / state power utilities, and EPCs / OEMs dealing with these utilities will be preferred.
- Export Formalities: Sound working knowledge of international shipping logistics, export documentation, customs procedures, RBI compliances. Exposure to DGFT, FTAs preferred.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Target Realization: % achievement of monthly and annual billing targets.
- On-Time Delivery (OTD): Turnaround time from order handover to customer delivery.
- DSO Support: Time taken to obtain site commissioning reports to facilitate payment releases.
