1. Job Purpose The Accounts Head will be responsible for managing the complete Finance & Accounts function of Magnum Sea Foods Limited, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, statutory compliance, cash-flow management, costing, taxation, banking operations and audit coordination.
The role requires a finance professional with strong exposure to manufacturing and preferably seafood processing/export operations, including inventory, production costing, export accounting, foreign currency transactions and working capital management.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Finance & Accounting
- Lead and manage the complete Accounts & Finance function of the organization.
- Supervise day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping and financial transactions.
- Ensure accurate recording of purchase, sales, expenses, receipts, payments and journal entries.
- Review and maintain General Ledger, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Account.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing.
- Establish and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting processes.
B. Manufacturing & Seafood Costing
- Monitor product-wise, batch-wise and production-wise costing.
- Analyse raw material procurement cost, processing cost, labour cost, packing cost, freezing cost, cold storage and logistics expenses.
- Monitor yield, wastage, process loss and production variance from a financial perspective.
- Coordinate with Production, Procurement, QC, Sales and Export teams for accurate costing.
- Analyse contribution margins and profitability of different products/orders.
C. Export Accounting & Finance
- Handle accounting related to seafood export transactions.
- Monitor export sales, export receivables and customer balances.
- Coordinate with banks regarding export documentation and banking transactions.
- Monitor Letter of Credit (LC), foreign remittances, export proceeds and foreign currency transactions.
- Track exchange-rate impact and foreign currency receivables/payables.
- Coordinate with the Export/Sales team for commercial and financial documentation.
D. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable GST, TDS, Income Tax and other statutory requirements.
- Review GST returns, reconciliations and related documentation.
- Monitor TDS deductions, payments and returns.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and statutory authorities.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and payments.
- Maintain proper records for statutory and regulatory requirements.
E. Banking & Treasury
- Manage day-to-day banking operations and banking relationships.
- Monitor cash flow, fund requirements and working capital.
- Prepare cash-flow forecasts and fund-utilisation plans.
- Coordinate with banks for working capital facilities, limits and documentation.
- Monitor bank reconciliation and ensure timely reconciliation of all accounts.
- Manage payment schedules and ensure optimum utilisation of funds.
F. Receivables & Payables
- Monitor customer outstanding and ensure timely collection of receivables.
- Review supplier payments and outstanding liabilities.
- Prepare ageing reports for receivables and payables.
- Coordinate with Sales/Export teams for overdue customer payments.
- Maintain appropriate credit-control mechanisms.
G. MIS & Financial Analysis
- Prepare monthly MIS and financial performance reports for management.
- Analyse revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, expenses and profitability.
- Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports.
- Provide financial insights to management for business decisions.
- Develop financial dashboards and management reports as required.
H. Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors,
Tax Auditors and other consultants.
- Ensure timely completion of audits.
- Prepare schedules, supporting documents and financial statements for audits.
- Address audit observations and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain proper documentation and financial records.
I. Team Management
- Lead, supervise and develop the Accounts & Finance team.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Establish accounting SOPs and internal processes.
- Ensure timely completion of all accounting and reporting activities.
3. Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Financial Accounting and Bookkeeping.
- Robust understanding of manufacturing accounting and costing.
- Experience in export accounting will be highly preferred.
- Knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax and statutory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of working capital and cash-flow management.
- Bank and ledger reconciliation.
- Profit & Loss analysis and financial reporting.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of Tally ERP / Tally Prime.
- ERP/accounting software experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent team management and communication skills.
Educational Qualification
- B.Com / M.Com
- CA Inter / CMA Inter will be an added advantage.
- CA/CMA qualified candidates with relevant industry experience may also be considered.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 5–8 years of experience in Accounts & Finance.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a managerial/leadership role.
- Experience in seafood processing, food processing, manufacturing or export-oriented companies preferred.
- Exposure to export documentation, export accounting and foreign currency transactions.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing costing and inventory accounting.
- Experience in handling audits, taxation and statutory compliance.
- Ability to independently manage the Finance & Accounts function.
- Strong leadership, analytical and decision-making skills.
