- Standardization

- Develop and improve packaging concepts for furniture and lighting SKUs (cartons, fitments, EPE/foam, corner/edge protection, palletization/crating where required).

- Create and maintain packaging specifications in ERP (pack BOM, dimensions, weights, material grades/strength parameters, packing method).

- Drive right-sizing and cube optimization for better container utilization and freight efficiency.

1. ISTA Transit Testing &
- Validation

- Plan and execute ISTA-based transit tests for recent packs and design changes; define test plans and acceptance criteria.

- Analyze failures (breakage, scuffing, finish damage, compression, vibration issues) and implement CAPA with cross-functional teams.

- Maintain documentation for test reports, approvals, and packaging revision/version control.

1. Labelling &
- Tagging (Order Execution)

- Ensure complete order-wise labelling/tagging compliance: UPC/EAN/barcodes, carton labels, shipping marks, handling symbols, COO/warnings and client-specific requirements.

- Control label accuracy (content, size, scannability), placement guidelines, and avoidance of dispatch holds due to label non-compliance.

- Coordinate with packing/warehouse teams for correct implementation and periodic checks.

1. Artwork Management &
- Approvals

- Coordinate packaging artwork and label artwork workflow (dielines, print proofs, corrections, approvals).

- Ensure alignment with client brand guidelines and packaging/label standards; maintain an approved artwork library with revision control.

1. Vendor Coordination &
- Procurement Support

- Coordinate with packaging material suppliers for cartons, fitments, labels, tapes, stretch film, etc.



to ensure quality and on-time availability.

- Support costing, negotiation inputs, and alternate vendor development; handle quality issues/NCR closure with suppliers.

1. Sustainability &
- Cost Optimization

- Lead initiatives to reduce packaging cost and improve sustainability (material reduction, recycled/recyclable alternatives, mono-material approaches) without compromising ISTA performance.

- Track and report savings and improvements.

1. Team Handling &
- Cross-Functional Coordination

- Lead and coach 2 team members; allocate work for labelling execution, documentation, and vendor follow-ups.

- Work closely with Merchandising/Accounts, Production, QC, Warehouse and Logistics for packaging readiness and shipment timelines.

KPIs (for appraisal / performance tracking)

- Transit damage/claims rate and improvement trend

- ISTA first-pass approval % for new packaging

- Packaging cost per unit / CBM savings delivered

- Dispatch holds due to labelling/pack non-compliance (target: near-zero)

- Label/barcode scan pass rate and artwork error rate

- OTIF packaging material availability for production/dispatch

- SKUs transitioned to sustainable/reduced packaging

Requirements

- 10-15 years of experience in export packaging & labelling, preferably in furniture/lighting or other fragile/large-format products.

- Strong working knowledge of corrugated cartons, cushioning/protection systems, palletization, and print/label basics.

- Hands-on experience with ISTA transit testing and packaging validation documentation.

- Strong coordination skills with proven ability to manage timelines and multiple stakeholders.

- Working experience on ERP for packaging masters/BOM/specs and tracking.
