1. Job Purpose To assist doctors and nursing staff in providing plaster, dressing, splinting, and basic wound-care services to patients, particularly in Orthopaedics, Emergency, and Trauma areas, while maintaining proper patient safety, hygiene, and infection-control standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Assist doctors in applying and removing POP (Plaster of Paris) casts, fiberglass casts, splints, and other immobilization devices.
- Prepare the patient and required materials before plaster application or dressing procedures.
- Apply and change routine wound dressings as directed by the treating doctor/nurse.
- Assist in the management of wounds, abrasions, lacerations, and minor injuries as per hospital protocols.
- Prepare and arrange dressing materials, POP bandages, padding, cotton, gauze, crepe bandages, splints, and other required items.
- Ensure proper positioning and immobilization of the affected limb during plaster application.
- Monitor the patient for complaints such as excessive pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, discoloration, or impaired circulation during and after plaster application and immediately inform the doctor/nurse.
- Assist in plaster cutting/removal using appropriate equipment and safety precautions.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper finishing of the applied plaster.
- Assist doctors during reduction and immobilization procedures when required.
- Maintain aseptic technique and follow hospital infection-prevention and control protocols.
- Clean, disinfect, and properly store reusable instruments and equipment as per hospital policy.
- Ensure adequate availability of dressing and plaster materials and inform the concerned supervisor about shortages.




- Maintain proper disposal of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines.
- Maintain records of plaster applications, dressing procedures, and materials used, wherever required.
- Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and comfort during procedures.
- Assist in shifting and positioning patients safely during emergency and orthopaedic procedures.
- Follow all instructions given by the Orthopaedic Consultant, Medical Officer, Nursing In-charge, or authorized supervisor.
- Report any abnormal observation, complication, or deterioration in the patient's condition immediately.
- Perform other duties related to patient care and plaster/dressing services assigned by the hospital administration.

3. Required Skills

- Practical knowledge of POP plaster and splint application.
- Knowledge of basic wound dressing procedures.
- Understanding of basic orthopaedic immobilization techniques.
- Knowledge of infection-control and aseptic practices.
- Ability to handle plaster-cutting and other related equipment safely.
- Valuable patient-handling and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in Emergency/Trauma situations.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

4. Qualification & Experience

Minimum Qualification:

- 12th Pass, preferably with relevant Dresser / Plaster Technician / Orthopaedic Technician training or certification.
- Any other specialised diploma in dresser/plaster Technician

Experience:

- 1–3 years of relevant experience in plaster application, dressing, Orthopaedics, Emergency.
- Experience in a hospital or medical college & hospital will be preferred.

Pay: ₹15,221.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
