We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Head - Education Loans to lead the growth and expansion of the Education Loans business within the lending and financial services ecosystem.

The role requires deep expertise in the Education Loans product , strong knowledge of the student financing landscape, and a proven ability to build sourcing channels, institutional partnerships, and high-performing business development teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sustainable business growth while maintaining portfolio quality and strong stakeholder relationships.

Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and execute the business development and growth strategy for the Education Loans business
- Drive sourcing, disbursements, revenue, and overall portfolio growth while maintaining quality of business
- Build and strengthen relationships with educational institutions, universities, coaching institutes, channel partners, and strategic stakeholders
- Identify new sourcing opportunities and develop scalable acquisition and distribution channels
- Build, manage, and expand institutional and channel partnerships across relevant education segments
- Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team to consistently achieve individual and organisational targets
- Define business priorities, monitor performance, and drive corrective actions to improve productivity and growth
- Work closely with Credit, Risk, Operations, Collections, and Product teams to ensure smooth execution of the end-to-end lending process
- Develop strategies to improve customer acquisition, conversion, disbursement, and portfolio performance
- Monitor education financing trends, competitor activity, customer requirements, and market developments to identify growth opportunities




- Maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure business activities remain aligned with applicable credit policies, internal processes, regulatory requirements, and risk guidelines
- Track key business metrics and prepare regular performance updates for senior leadership
- Identify opportunities to improve sourcing efficiency, partnership effectiveness, customer experience, and business profitability
- Support strategic initiatives for expanding the Education Loans portfolio into new markets, institutions, and customer segments

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT

- 8+ years of relevant experience in banking, NBFCs, financial services, lending, or a related industry
- Hands-on experience in the Education Loans product is mandatory
- Strong understanding of the complete Education Loan lifecycle, including sourcing, credit/underwriting interface, sanction, disbursement, servicing, and portfolio management
- Proven experience building and scaling Education Loans businesses, sourcing channels, and institutional partnerships
- Strong understanding of the student lending and education financing ecosystem
- Demonstrated track record of achieving business, revenue, sourcing, and disbursement targets
- Experience managing and mentoring business development or sales teams
- Strong network and relationship-building capabilities across educational institutions, channel partners, and other relevant stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive activity, customer behaviour, and emerging opportunities within education financing
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across Credit, Risk, Operations, Collections, and Product
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a results-oriented approach
- MBA/PGDM from a reputed institute is preferred
- A proven track record of building or scaling an Education Loans business and leading teams toward sustainable growth will be highly valued
