Job Summary
The Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing pharmaceutical processing and packaging equipment, preparing 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting current product development, improving existing machine designs, and coordinating with production, automation, quality, purchase, and project teams to ensure timely and cost-effective execution while maintaining GMP and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Design & Development
Design pharmaceutical processing and packaging machinery for Effervescent Tablet Processing & Packaging and OSD applications.
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for machine components and complete equipment.
- Design machine frames, hoppers, bins, tanks, conveyors, guards, platforms, piping, and structural assemblies.
- Develop innovative solutions to improve machine performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Engineering Documentation
Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and installation layouts.
- Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Prepare exploded views, fabrication drawings, machining drawings, and part lists.
- Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation in accordance with document control procedures.
Product Development
- Participate in new product development and prototype projects.
- Conduct design calculations and engineering feasibility studies.
- Select suitable materials, standard components, bearings, motors, gearboxes, drives, and purchased items.
- Implement engineering changes and product improvements based on production and customer feedback.
Manufacturing Support
- Provide technical support to Fabrication, Machine Shop, Assembly, Automation,
and Quality departments.
- Resolve production-related design issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Visit the shop floor to verify fitment, assembly, and manufacturability.
- Support installation and commissioning activities when required.
Engineering Analysis
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, fits, and clearances.
- Apply GD&T; principles where required.
- Review machine performance and recommend design improvements.
- Support root cause analysis for mechanical failures and customer complaints.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Automation, Electrical, Purchase, Production, Quality Assurance, Projects, and Sales teams.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and customer discussions.
- Support vendor development and component approval activities.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with GMP requirements and customer specifications.
- Follow company engineering standards and documentation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical machine design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent CAD software.
- Ability to read and prepare engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits, and mechanical calculations.
- Understanding of stainless-steel fabrication (SS304/SS316), sheet metal, machining, welding, and assembly.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical machinery and hygienic design principles.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic automation concepts is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical machinery

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
